Can I ask what gear you where in at the end of the 1/4 and what final drive ratio you use, if it's top secret just tell me to get lost
I ask because the car I'm buying has 6 speed in (nearly) and am considering changing to 5 speed.

5th gear, and its a UK box, so 3.9 final drive.

4th gear will see you to circa 100/110 depending on rev limit, 110 being at 8000rpm

ps, if your going to use it solely as a track/drag car, then change to a good 5 speed

if not, keep the uk six speed IMO

 

I think Chris had a Jap Spec 6 Speeder in but I might be wrong.

 

Thanks for that, it is my intention to use it predominantly as a drag car, I think it may benifit from a "good" 5 speeder.

Custom, yes it has a jdm 6 speed at the mo

 

mine has a 5 speed foward with 7 speed reverse

 

JDM 6 speed is better for drag, as the jump from 4th to 5th is reduced, so you arrive in 5th higher up the rev range.

Try it with the 6 speed, if it has the power mentioned, it should go into the 11's easily, even on a 6 speed.

I felt i had room for loads of improvement driving davids, and could possibly get it to very low 11's / high 10's without race fuel.

jdm box was manic on mine, and i hit the limiter before the 1.25 top speed run

 

what speed was that at Steven ?

SM, 155 - 160ish at 7250 rpm

 

as steven says final drive is actually 3.9 but that is due to a 1.1:1 drop gear in a 6spd... so Im using a std uk rear diff (3.545)

Top speed iirc with these wheels would either be 198 or 201mph.
