Just taken my vta off and put my recirc back on - just to try it to see what it's like.
It's very quiet!!
No psssshhtt.
No pops.
No bangs.
No flames.
No way it's staying on

Spark plugs, either PFR 6B's or 7B's, 7B's more for 300 + IMO.
Look in Scooby shop for prices, failry cheap.
