HERE ARE THE FACTS:
I have been reading the other auctions selling boost controllers and I can always tell an auction listed by a "UNKNOWLEDGABLE" seller just trying to make their lower quality, poorer performing product sound better. They claim their Aluminum product is the best and will not corrode like brass!! I guess they have never heard of OXIDATION? It may be Anodized on the outside, but what happens when moisture builds up INSIDE and you get all that nice chalky residue built up in there and it blocks off the little ball bearing? Can you say "FULL BOOST"? Brass may tarnish, brass may discolor, BRASS DOES NOT CORRODE. Have you ever seen a piece of aluminum laying outside for a few months all pitted up and white? Well there you have it. Have you ever looked at your brass water shutoff outside your house that has been there since 1962? Looks pretty good, doesn't it? The others are claiming they don't use "HARDWARE STORE FITTINGS"!! Almost every fitting I use can be purchased at a hardware store and I do that for a reason, IT KEEPS THE COST DOWN ON MY PRODUCT. Sure I can machine every part out of a solid piece of brass and it will look beautiful, but then you will pay $120.00 + dollars for it. Sure you can go to the hardware store yourself and buy the exact same fittings I use, but they will not be the same because I machine, drill and tap almost every piece of my boost controller so it works perfectly. My boost controllers are also made from 1/4" fittings, not like the "OTHER BOOST CONTROLLERS" that are 1/8". What you also get with my product is a free "UNIVERSAL, HAND MADE, BRUSHED ALUMINUM, MOUNTING BRACKET" that NONE of the other guys give you. What I DON'T DO is buy a big allen bolt and nut and stick it in the side of a "T" fitting with a ball and spring and call it a boost controller. That is called a one way valve and as you read you'll find out why that is very bad. Use your eyes, think it through and then buy the best performing, best quality boost controller available. Remember one thing, you get what you pay for.
What is Turbo Lag?
I have been getting many MANY e-mails about "what is the difference between MY High Performance Boost Controller and the "OTHER" boost controllers sold here and there. It's simple, There is no Turbo Lag. What exactly is Turbo Lag, you ask? Turbo Lag is the time delay between when your foot hits the floor and your Turbo starts to build boost. When you open the throttle flap in your throttle body you create a big pressure drop in the intake system when fuel and air start to move toward the intake runners and ultimately into the cylinders to be ignited and then out the exhaust where your turbo lives. Your Turbo SPOOLING UP is in direct proportion to the SPEED of the air moving through the fins of your exhaust turbine wheel. As the exhaust spins the exhaust turbine wheel FASTER the compressor turbine wheel spins FASTER which pressurizes the intake system. The time it takes to fully pressurize the entire intake system and get the air moving as FAST as it can through the engine is how long it will take you to get to full boost. If you think about that alone, bigger is not always better, especially not on the street. You can pressurize a small pipe faster and easier than you can a BIG pipe. You can blow air faster through a small pipe than you can through a BIG pipe. What you need to do is find the Engine / Turbo happy place where you get the fastest airspeed without restricting the airflow. That is where the big Turbo Companies with millions of dollars in R&D come in handy that have done all the testing for you. Now that you know a tid bit about Spool Up, I can explain a bit about Turbo Lag. Your car has a wastegate with a diaphragm that holds pressure and controls boost by opening and closing a valve "gate" pretty quickly. IT NEEDS TO REACT QUICKLY because if boost pressure is not released FAST then the valve will hang open and your turbo will not build any boost, it will just go out the exhaust. That is what a ball and spring only boost controller will do to you. TurboXS knows this, that is why their standard boost controller is a BLEED VALVE ONLY TYPE and NOT a BALL AND SPRING ONLY type. That is where my boost controller is far superior to all the others being sold without a bleed valve.
Why Pay More?
If you are considering paying $65.00 or more for a single adjustment manual boost controller like the TurboXS standard controller or $120.00 plus for a High Performance dual adjustment boost controller then you can get all the benefits right here from my high performance boost controller. It works off the same principals as the TurboXS High Performance dual adjustment boost controller where it has a coarse adjustment which incorporates a ball and spring mechanism for large boost increases and a fine "air bleed" adjustment for very small boost increases of 1 psi at a time. With this small air bleed valve it will DECREASE TURBO LAG!!!
Why Ours Is Better:
One of the biggest problems with some boost controllers that only incorporate a ball and spring mechanism is that you will commonly experience fluctuations in boost. They can actually cause turbo lag from the ball not letting the boost pressure escape from the wastegate side of the controller therefore not letting the wastegate fully close. We incorporate the coarse adjustment to get the desired boost level within a few pounds of where you want it and then use the fine air bleed adjustment to get it perfectly where you want it. This air bleed adjustment is NECESSARY for QUICKLY releasing the pressure that builds up in the wastegate and not letting it get backed up inside, like a BALL AND SPRING ONLY boost controller, ULTIMATELY CAUSING TURBO LAG!!! Lastly and maybe most importantly, our boost controllers incorporate a safety feature where if the adjusting screw backs out, it CANNOT fall out, you won’t go to full boost. Instead, the boost will gradually go back to the STOCK LEVEL.
SIMPLE TO INSTALL!!
This boost controller comes with a brushed aluminum mounting bracket and it's quick & easy to install. Simply cut the waste gate pressure hose and inserting the pressure side of the hose to the red brass nipple of the boost controller. Insert the waste gate supply hose onto the other brass nipple. You can also save your factory hose and use the 12" piece of hose which is included in the kit. The Boost Controller can be mounted easily with the aluminum mounting bracket or tucked away where it cannot be seen.
I Use What I Sell
I have personally used this same boost controller on my 88 Conquest before buying a TurboXS HPBC not more than 6 months ago. After spending well over $100.00, I noticed ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL!! Except that I was $119.00 plus shipping poorer. My performance boost controller will regulate boost from stock 7-10psi to as much as your turbo will produce. This is a "NO TOOLS NEEDED" boost controller!! Both adjustments can be made by hand with the twist of the wrist.
