Weeeeeeeeeelllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll ll
...basically 'coz of a few things I bin reading and some advice off BJ:
Apparently you do need some back pressure coz when it's all dumped to atmosphere, some fuel management bit dumps more fuel in to compensate against stalling and it can pop and bang and backwash/backflow over some seals and then a big hairy two headed goatlike creature with cups for feet and two ***** pops up and shouts 'AAAAARRRRGGGHHH, YA BASTAD' from your inlet manifold wastgate sump overhead piston slapback return.
Or summat like that.

Mornin all. I had a day from hell yesterday - one of those day's where absolutely nothing goes according to plan and you just wanna break down in tears, hand yer notice in and go sell melons on a beach somewhere exotic.
But I've just read Bryn's technical explanation for choosing a recirc dv and I am now in tears of laughter That's the funniest thing I've read in ages!!!! So cheers Bryn for cheering me up
Big J - no probs re Saturday night. Seeing as nobody else is coming ( ) bring Joseph with you if you like. You haven't been to one of our parties before have you? Best you leave the car at home and cancel any plans you had for Sunday
Pum - "move intercooler"??????????? More details required................!!!

Clarification
Sorry guys, it appears I may have been wrong when explaining why I got a re-circulating type DV
I had indicated that after the DV is the AFR, which expects a certain amount of airflow at any given time. When a VTA dumps the air out of the system, the ECU reacts to the missing air by dumping a bucket load of fuel in to prevent a stall. This causes the pops and bangs, but because some of the overfuelling is forced under compression, it goes past the pistons into the sump thinning the oil (borewash) and removing the microfilm of oil which lubricates the cylinders.
Well I was of course inherently wrong
The MAF sensor is immediately after the airfilter! Information from this is passed to the ECU which adds fuel accordingly in the correct quantity.
When a VTA dumpvalve dumps the air to atmosphere, that air has already been accounted for by the MAF, so the ECU fuels as if that air is still there as it has no way of knowing that some of the registered air had been dumped. It doesn't dump any EXTRA fuel at all. There is simply a reduction in the amount of air that the ECU has provided fuel for, hence a MOMENTARY overly rich state after the car has dumped off.
I believe this should clear things up
Mr Darley - I know of some screenwipes going cheap
My Lofty - delighted to have been instrumental in cheering you up a bit

Where did you get that info from??? That's how I understood the pops and bangs were generated (ie perfectly safely!). Not heard of this "borewash" phenomenon before tho - sounds a bit scarey to me . So what causes that then?? The big 'orrible monster with cups for feet?

Steven, how would you know if your car's constantly overfuelling and you've got borewash? I'm like a car-hypochondriac aren't I? Somebody mentions a problem and I instantly panic in case I've got it

Whatever, the facts are: I returned the disks on July 26th. After two months of him trying to source the correct ones, he agreed to refund me and send me the correct pads...that was September 29th
The last correspondence I had from him was October 23rd where he said he wasn't trying to rip me off, he'd sent out a cheque and pads already that must have got lost.
still waiting...

That seems to be IMO a regular line and problem for godspeed.
I would personally send an email, letter by recorded delivery, stating that you want the refund as promised by x date, otherwise solicitors will be involved.
If you dont hear anything, get a solicitor involved, or i think you can do a small claim fairly easily these days.

Right, well I'll see you you all tonight then! (that's if I can get O2 to admit they've got GPRS problems and turn some of my unhappy customers into happy customers! But personally I think I'd have more success getting Bin Laden to confess where he's hidden his weapons of mass destruction.)
You gonna pop over for an hour Mr D???
