Classic and Bug Eye.

Both good cars, both mean as ****.

You pays your money you takes your choices.

Take an extended test in both if possible.

I like the extra refinement of the bug and with a few tweaks it's enough of a match for a modded classic IMHO.

the classic is an awesome looking motor..

but the bug !!! .. I'd go for it every time..

I spent 6 months looking for my first scoob and had about 15k to spend..was either a bugeye.and not many pennies left for mods..or a classic and a grand or 3 left over..

I loved the look and sound of the bugeye with its morettes and the cat back magnex.. but each to there own... test 'em both..count your cash , but whatever you spend , you cant get a faster, better , more refind car for the money

(and they've all got the same badge) except the S202

Nathan can I ask you what front grill that is on the New age? Fancy sommit like that for mine, although now sure of the backing on it.E-mail me if you prefer.
AS the Classic and New age argument goes I love both, the rawness of the classic and the more refinement of the new age, but if I had the choice New age every time....well apart from the Type R P1 and 22B lol

Its a standard Subaru Sports Grille for the bug-eye. I've just replaced the stars badge with a blue 'I' badge and meshed the back of it.

Mesh looks better in the flesh and has dulled down slightly now.

Drive both on a good test drive before you make a decision. There's no right answer.

The difference between 00 and 03 is massive. I'm afraid I can't comment reliably on the 00 to 01 change... Purely on looks I'd say classic

Whatever you go for, be happy with it

Agree with whats been said, the best thing you can do is have a long test drive in both, I recently bought a ppp wrx bugeye, I only had it for a week, it wasnt a bad car in any way, its just that having owned two classic turbo's the wrx didnt match it for me in terms of driver enjoyment (for me), so I sold it and have now got a very nice classic with a few extra's and had a few quid in change aswell

As you're after a five door...

The five door bugeye is understated compared to the four door. The wheel-arches get a completely different styling; normal, curved, sort. Whereas the four door has blister style arches.

I boils down to where/how you want to drive. For refinement and interior, go bug-eye. For a bit more get-up-and-go, go for the classic.
