Rs Focus...........How many do you want?
#61
You must have been very unlucky.
There IS a Focus RS owner who had a nightmare with his car and is trying to sell it (thread started today on the FRSOC) but it's the dealer who has done the damage more than anything else (bad repairs, breaking other things etc) and I also experienced this first hand with my Escort. Not that any trim fell of mind.
This is the one thing that made me slightly wary about buying another Ford. Get the wrong dealer looking at it and you'll probably find the car ends up wrecked through no fault of your own.
However, I don't think this is a uniquely Ford problem and I am sure the percentage of people who suffer from this are a tiny minority compared to how many people buy Ford cars.
Sorry if I was snappy, but I've never personally seen any trim fall off a car or heard about it happening. I shall check my door handle tomorrow to see how it might happen (I presume this must be clipped on, to cover a screw or something).

i actually thought that the build quality of my frs is very good. I think it is better than my girlfiends polo gti which when we bought i thought that was well built but now feels rather flimsy compared to my frs. i also had a mate come round last night who has had focus's (foci?) as company cars for a couple of years and he commented on how good the build quality was.

I have had 6 Fords now and the older ones had lots of rattles, but nothing ever fell off.
The last 3 Fords I have had are since they got their act together (around 1997 in my opinion) and have been the best built cars I have owned.
It's also worth bearing in mind that Ford are always right at the top of any reliability tests. The Focus won the big German reliability test last year, I seem to recall.

All cars will lose money in the end. I bought a new Mini Cooper "s". Last Sept, (ordered it in May), every one said you won't lose on it . Sold it in Jan to buy Scooby, lost £1500. Dealer said "There is quite a few around now so easier to source.
Still it's only money eh!

You seem to feel very strongly about this subject? I am not a big fan of Gareth Gates, but I don't go around posting about how bits fall off him etc.

Puma's are wicked cars I used to own one before the Impreza...Build quality was great, that was about the time Ford got there **** together as mentioned earlier......Although there was rattle in the back that I never got to the bottom of which really did my head in...
