Burns signs for subaru for 2004

well Citroen would be silly not to re-sign Sainz based on his experience and performance this year. I am afraid that I used to be a mcrae fan but he appears to have lost it and just can't bring it all back together

From the footage I saw of McCrae in Finland, it appeared to me that he set out to teach Ringer a lesson for making the error: give him a scare, & so what if he crashed?
I doubt very much McCrea, or any driver, would take that attitude. He did admit on CH4 to driving too hard when playing catch-up.anyway, Ringer's mistake is a nail in his coffin, on which the lid will soon be closed to make way for Chris Patterson. IMHO
Chris Patterson has been with a few people, notably Gwyndaf Evans when he was at SEAT. Colin has tested with him on a number of occasions, including at the end of the 2001 season after he and Nicky fell out in Australia and stopped talking after the "Q", with many thinking a swap would happen at that point.
Not sure Patterson's the first name in the frame right now though. If he was, why go with DR in the first place?
Ringer's had the look of a bumbling, confused old man ever since Colin and he got back together, so TBH it's unfortunately not surprising to see this sort of mistake being made. The question remains though whether anyone else'd be able to do a better job.
It's odd though that the Citroen team have suffered a series of elemental co-driver related errors through the season. When a pattern like that gets established, it makes you wonder what's going on inside the team...

lol,
chris patterson is currently co-driving for chris meeke in the super 1600 wrc.
he's been connected to McCrea for a while now, and most recently sat along side him in his 6r4 when they swept the McCrea rally stages a couple of weeks ago.
just my guess, that's all

You can see from the Finnish rally that McRae still has the biggest n*ts of any driver and is the fastest when on a charge - even in one of the slower cars....
His problem is the same as it has always been - consistency or lack of it. He has been close many times and just needs a bit of luck to crack it again but don't ever look to him to be a boring Burnsie - thank God!
Solberg is the nearest that we have to the next McRae so at least I have one entertaining driver to cheer on.
As an outside bet with 3 tarmac rallies left Loeb may clinch the WRC this year....

If you watch the colin mcrae story video thingy it gives a good insight into why he crashes so much.
I think his statement was something like " i was prepared to go into any corner a gear higher than anyone else". Explains a lot and he still seems to drive the same.
Burns is good and consistent and drives with his head lots. Hope he wins the championship as i want to see the brits apear on the champions list a bit more.
I dont mean this as an insult, but burns just doesnt have the charisma of Mcrae.

I agree about not needing a personality to be a good driver. See most scandinavians for an example (except PS and MG on a good day).
I just find it hard to get enthusiastic about someone who, while being quick etc, doesnt look like it and isnt that great a personallity when being interviewed.
Saying that i whish they didnt interview the drivers as much, but showed the mechanics at work more and did exposee's on the cars.
I like the drivers, but the cars are the stars to me.
