Cool

Greg.g maybe you should post the url to The House of Commons website and then get all 20K SN users to all pay it a visit and email their MP or each others MP if you want and then hopefully they can't ignore 20K emails.

Just to add my 2p worth, I have decided to write to my MP about this. One of my questions will be, it seems anecdotally a lot of this burglary for car keys going on, yet we hear next to nothing about in the media or from the Police. Do the police actually know how often this is happening (nationwide not just in force areas). What are they doing about it? At very least they should be advising the public of the risks, even if they haven't got a clue what else to do.
I am going to be seriously upgrading the security of my house to try and discourage anybody from trying anything.

The Police are demoralised as they catch the thieves and then they get a slap on the wrists by the courts.

The Thieves don't give a $hit as they will probably end up in an open prison moving lawns or picking cabages, I hardly call that a sentance.

The kids jails get PS2's before non-criminal children, it's called rehabilitation - I don't think it works somehow, bring back containment and screws who give the inmates a good kicking.

What about some of our lottery money going towards building a few more large prisons, instead of ungreatfull asylum seekers and rubbish art? I know I'd buy more tickets.

I usually have to endure the odd story from the old folks about "the good 'ol days"

But then it occurred to me. In days when there was less crime and murdering etc... was'nt there also hanging too?

In this day and age, serious criminals have no fear of their punishments. Similary nor do "petty" theives. They probably have more fear from rival gangs etc. Combined with the lack of general law enforcement and slow justice system, is it any wonder that things are like this?

Who read the scum today? may have been the Star.

Burglar breaks into an old ladies house and empales himself by his bo!!ox on a shard of glass from her window he just amashed to get in.
He then asks her for help to get off the sill, she told him to get stuffed and stay there till the ole bill arrive.

Now i expect that the blokes lawyers will sue her for personal injury!
Thats called british justice.

Ya'll are right, the whole fvcking system is screwed. Sounds like the UK has got it worse than the US tho. In the city everything has to be locked or else its stolen (even the tires off bicylces), out in the country most people still leave their cars and houses unlocked.

I feel for ya'll. There'd be enough room in the prisons for the car theives if you let the small time marijuana users out.

ya'll are right, the system is screwed, even on both sides of the pond. The police are just as sorry over here, always chasin after the small time druggies and never goin after anything serious (half an hour late for a bank robbery).

All,

after following this thread with interest , i,d like to add my bit

dont go down any form of petition? route,, due to our wacky legal system a petition works like this

10,000 people sign a petition to stop scooby thefts hm gov open envelope and see the first page "we wish to petition about scooby theft , signed fred smith, they then file that as 1 letter recieved from fred smith!!!!!!!!!!!!

they only take the first signature as a valid letter

the best way is to send 10,000 individual letters,,, they will then take notice,,

without wishing to plug any particular national,

richard littlejohn in the sun, has been banging on about what we are seeing on a twice weekly basis.. prehaps a few well edidted posts passed onto him may have the desired effect!! as well as the rest of the tabloids

Moderators can you help!! prhaps this needs to go to other boards no matter what marque of vehicle

if so and it gets a response ,, can we get all our profiles

hidden... dont want to give to much away...

Mart

ps i think we need to bring back some discipline...
get the coppers back on the beat and stop persicuting motorists..

look at the petrol protestor guy... a simple peaceful protest did the trick... mind you hm gov then outlawed it.. despite banging on about our right to hold peaceful protests

as a final shot just think very carefully next time you put your cross in the box!!! personally i never voted for him and never will

Mart ( need a coffee well p*****d off )

If you do want to e mail your mp, you can find them at
http://www.parliament.uk/directories/hciolists/alcm.cfm

Sorry, i dont know how to make it a clicky.
Its a list of all mp's and their e mail address.

I know it sounds like a waste of time, but when my car got
broken into, i felt i had to have a moan to someone
I told him that i did not think that car crime was taken seriously
enough. If you steal a £12000 car and get caught, you might get
a short jail sentence, or if its the first time you get caught,
just a slap on the wrist and dont do it again you naughty boy
If you went into a shop and stole £12000, you would be locked up
for a few years.
Now i know which option i would take
Untill the law looks upon car crime as a more serious crime, things
are only going to get worse.
I know it would take an act of parliment to change things but
we cant just sit back and let some little **** heads nick our cars, break into our houses, threaten our lives and that of our familys.
The rot has to stop now.

Sorry rant over

Greg

Things are looking good. If you sit back, moan and do bugger all; then I'm afraid you have no right to moan. Didn't vote? Then you have no right to moan about how the government is doing.

I had my car (94 WRX) nicked and know the problems getting it all sorted, it's not just the financial loss. Its the 10 weeks of utter hassle getting s things sorted with insurance and getting a new motor.

Things MUST change. We are quickly disappearing down our own toilet, mixed up with all the sh"t that goes with it.

I agree, 10,00 e-mails/letters WILL get us noticed. Car crime MUST be seen as a major crime, not just a wrist slap.

We can take full advantage of the death of that garage owner by using that as the momentum to get things going. Don't get me wrong here, his death should be the catalyst we need. Maybe even naming the cause after him?

With the right motive, correctly and properly applied. This could be something of note. Richard Littlejohn, just might need a letter........................

Edited to mention that the guy killed was 75 year old Henry Raybould

Still think that a person should not be protected by the law if they are in the process of breaking the law.

Just read in the paper that a bloke defended himself against a burglar who threatened him. He was using a rolling pin to defend himself. The local police are charging him and have confiscated the rolling pin. The Inspector said that the public should leave defence to the police. So we have to stand there and let the criminals attack and injure us while we wait ages for the police to turn up!

Now thats just silly Leslie.
You have to say to the criminal that this is a citizens arrest,
and will they please wait here until the police arrive

For what its worth

richard.littlejohn@the-sun.co.uk

without seeming patronising

i would suggest keep it balanced and dont go into

turbo nutter bas***d mode,,, if you present it as concerned citizens it will be recieved better than hang them / chop of there nads etc... mind you most of us know what we,d do

Mart

*** i read in the paper that the family of the murdered garage owner have forgiven his killers, ** reading the thread through i would use sensitivity and respect if refering to that aspect

Mart
