was planning to run it into ground

If you buy a new recon engine, you get some warranty on it (I assume
) and you know the rest of the car is sound. spend the same money on a second hand car and the whole thing is an unknown quantity. If you are planning on keeping it another couple of years, get replacement engine...IMHO
If you are considering replacing engine to immediately sell whole car...just bin it instead

On a brighter note...was in Workington this evening and saw a rather tasty STi 5 in custard yellow
I did wave but combined passing speed would have been >120mph
and did not see them wave back. Sportsman was also rather busy tonight but they managed to squeeze Tia and I in a rather nice table in the corner
Rusty, you probably wouldn't get a wave from him anyway, he's a arrogant s**t. That cars been prangged once and had a new motor in it cos he ran it on ordinary unleaded!
Who stamped your passport for these parts? It wasn't a CS meet was it?
Oh, BTW its an STi 6!

I was up to check out a potential new employer, forgot I needed to get a work permit too

Thought that was teh same Custard STi I had heard popped an engine and stuufed it in a fence - sounds like he does not deserve it...should give it to me
Lordy, just a guess but i reckon all you`ll need is a new block as all the bits that bolt on the engine will be ok (won`t they???) Surely replacing a block can be done for 600 notes including the block. You don`t NEED a re-conned block, just a 2nd hand one. It was a few years ago but i had the block on an orion ghia replaced after the cam belt snapped and it cost £250
happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me..............
I know its hard to believe due to my youthfull good looks but i`m now 27!

Midlife,
Guess what me and my missus are coming to see you on wednesday or I think its you there cant be many sean whiteheads in carlisle who work for the nhs.Its for the wife not me mate she showed me the letter and I saw the name and put 2&2 together.
The wife is bothered now cos she knows what us scooby owners are like for modding so she thinks she will come away with a dump valve fitted in her gob instead of some tooth correction work, only joking mate.If it is you midlife I will see you wednesday.

Hi Gussy
I'l bring in the latest "Top Gear" mag for you to read at the same time...No True Grip for a couple of months now
I have a total catchment area of about six hundred thousand people so I guess meeting a Scooby owner had to happen sometime

Are you thinking of getting a new Turbo (TD05), it seems that Abbey lad and me are going the same sort of route for a bit more "get up and go"....safety in numbers

Midlife....

I will not be going the big turbo route yet Shaun, brakes will be first and then finish stiffening up the chassis handeling and stopping counts more than bhp in my mind anyway as I found on my old Harris magnum Z1000 but that was in my youth.......last year.....ok then when I was 20...22 years ago??god is it that long ago.
see you on wednesday.
see you on wednesday.
Just buy braided hoses, Pagid RS4.2 "blue" pads and some decent fluid like Silkolene Pro race 2000. If your discs need replacing buy group N ones from Questmead. By group N I mean standard. Ones with grooves or drilled holes are NOT group N, so I don't know why people try to sell them as such
No need to go spending vast amounts of dosh when you can quite easily shop around and get just as good results!
