I'm sure no-one understands half of what I say down south. I'm from Lincolnshire originally.

Such interesting words... - like scrat (scratch) and squad (mud) & Bardneyite (someone who leaves doors open)

Grockle - used around the Bournemouth area (if not others as well) to mean anyone not local, so I suppose a tourist.

Coming from near to the Stoke area, I can back up ChrisB for the Stokie variety.

"Real" Potteries talk is fookin' hard to understand......if you ever have the (unfortunate) pleasure of visiting the Potteries Centre up 'Anley duck then you will see some local dialect on the walls!

"Go' a monk on": in a bad mood
"Scudderarows": let's go to my house
"It wayn't marrer": it won't matter
"Gizza spice/spog(gy)": I would like one of your sweets/chewing gum
"Gorra toggy?": do you have a condom?
"Sheps've ettit": the starlings have eaten it
"Nazzed": tired out

These are all Scunny phrases.
I once had an English teacher tell me that our accent here is the worst that he'd ever come across as we miss the last letter off most end-of-phrase words, and we have the worst of South Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire:
As an example, our town is known as "S c u n t h o r ",
and my youngest called his brother "Mar" until he was about 3
