I`ve seen turbo out temps at 160Deg C on a 15 deg ambient day running 1 bar from the TD04 at 5500+rpm.

VF30 running 1.2bar at 7000rpm is at about 110Deg C!!!!

Hi,

I've ot a MY97 running 344bhp at the mo.

I've decatted it, fitted induction kit, uprated top mount intercooler, uprated fuel pump, boost controller, Fuel cut defender, lightened pulleys, MRT high flow silicone inlet pipe and upgraded the turbo to a front entry TD05 running 1.4 bar
Run on Optimax with 100ml NF per fillup.

Still on standard injectors, ECU and internals, clutch and gearbox.

I only ever light the green lights on my Knocklink even under hard driving.

Because I'm still on the standard ECU and injectors, it's not to the fullest of its potential, but it's a lot quicker than it was and it hasn't cost a packet to do.

If I were you, I'd look at changing the turbo as the TD04 is limited. A 2nd hand VF can be had for less than £300 and I got my front entry TD05 for £210! Talk about bang per buck!

Good idea to do the intercooler also, either an STi one (cheaper option) or if you've got the dosh the MRT one is cool (literally )

The high flow inlet pipe made a big difference too. Induction noise is now awesome.

If you want any advice, feel free to mail me, although my mail is goosed at the moment and you'll get it bounced back, so give it a week or so.

Cheers

Rich

Mark,

You could always wire the lambdalink straight into the lambda sensor. That's what I did.

And yes, detonation is one hell of a big bang. The fuel/air mix is EXPLODING rather than BURNING in a controlled manner. It also happens at totally the wrong time as far as piston movement is concerned. That's why it is so destructive to your engine.

I've got some figures somewhere, I will post them up.

Cheers

Rich
