Scooby_Loo....snap, I also used to be a size 8.

Thanks to a more enriching diet, weight training/refereeing and arsing around I gained a few pounds....(okay, more than a few ) and am now a size 12.

I am more or less happy as a 12. I have found that I may have a thyroid problem which also explains my weight gain, but I won't actively be dieting to go any less than a size 10 when I go on treatment to correct the problem. apart from fact, clothes are bloody expensive and I can't be bothered to shop for anymore!!!

I am happy the way I am now. I used to be a B cup when I was thinner and am now just over a C.....I don't want to sacrifice those LMAO.

The one thing that does concern me is getting fit enough to be able to referee four matches a week or more. then I will have achieved my fitness goal.

It would require the serious onset of anorexia for me to ever be a size 8. I was a size 10 for a while in my late teens/early 20s but I looked awful, rangy and just ill.

I just think what people like is purely personal preference. I like skinny women, but that might be because I am slim myself, and it would feel odd to be with a bigger woman.

"Birds of a feather flock together..?"

Wow, I do come out with some right cr@p sometimes!

I am clinging onto my C cups LOL (not literally though )!!!! No way are they going anywhere unless they want to get bigger, whereupon I have no issue as long as it doesn't involve the rest of my enlarging too. LOL

I did suffer from anorexia when I was younger, I did manage a very lovely size 6, but I wouldn't recommend it! Took me a while to beat it, but I have.

Hence why I try not to get bothered about my weight and am pretty chuffed that I have accepted size 12 as satisfactory.

I'm just built strangely.

When I was a size 10 I was a DD cup. Six months ago I was...no, let's not even go there.

SJPs face is too gaunt for me.

Lady in the first pic has obviously trained hard and dieted properly to acheive that body. Still better than real out and out female body builders in my book.

I prefer curves but everyone is different...

The only good thing about being blessed (I use that term very loosely as I don't consider it a blessing at all ) with smaller breasts, is that when I run around a football field after 22 blokes in a vain attempt to referee a footie match, I don't have to worry about them flying around in my face so to speak.
I do wear a sports bra, but it is hardly needed.

*sigh* I am *so* sick of being bombarded with images of women that I can never look like. It's all very well to tell us what "perfection" is guys, but the simple fact is that it's not attainable for some of us.

I've been training for 6 months to lose weight because I don't like being fat and already I am being told I am getting too muscly. If I train I build muscle, if I don't, I stay fat. I can't bloody win!

TK,

It is obvious just looking at any 'larger' man or woman if they are fat or big built. Nothing wrong with being big built and toned, it looks great No amount of dieting or exercising will reduce your framesize.

From reading some of your posts it's obvious you know your stuff about exercising and diet, but I would question the exercising you are doing if you feel it is making you overly muscly?

As midget says!

I will never be the shape that I want to, but I'll be damned if other people's opinions of me are going to affect the way I see myself.

If people don't like you on face value alone, then they are pretty pathetic IMHO.

I hear what you're saying TK. But, I've also had it the other way round. When I worked in an office wearing a suit, people would say I looked really skinny, because suits don't really flatter a slim guy, unless you get an expensive tailored one. I have trouble buying shirts because they all get wider around the waist than around the chest (my chest is bigger than my waist). Unless, you seek out designer fitted shirts that taper in, and look really good. I find 'mainstream' clothes now are designed mainly for fat guys. Jumpers flare out at the bottom and have no shape, trousers are too baggy around the bum. I generally end up having to spend ages, and a lot of money, to find clothes that fit properly.

And then, when you do find the nice clothes, and wear them, people will say you look gay because your clothes fit properly.

exactly 'chelle.

tk - no point worrying/trying to please other people. who is it you are worried about that cares what you look like? bf, potential bf, etc? if what you look like is that important to them i wouldn't bother.

i used to be a really shallow git (actually i still am!) but that all goes out the window when you meet someone you like.

MooseRacer, I've cut out all the resistance work I was doing for my lower body and am just doing upper body resistance work and CV stuff, (treadmill, cross trainer, cycling, swimming), but it's almost impossible to do any CV without working one's legs. My legs were already fairly muscly when I started training, but now it's just getting silly. I do a lot of kickboxing and a fair bit of walking about in heels and neither of those help much either.

As for being able to tell if a big person is fat or not, someone called me a fat cow in the street last week and said, "just look at the size of her calves". The fact that my calves are solid is irrelevant apparently.

Midget, I am training to get to a point where I am happy with how I look, and where I can see something in a random (clothes) shop window and have a fair idea they'll have it in a size that will fit me. However, it's easy to become disillusioned when you're constantly presented with an image of 'ideal' that you can never, (sensibly), achieve.

You'd be amazed at the sort of blokes who think they can criticise how women look. Society is just way too obsessed with the idea that women must be beautiful and skinny. Any woman not measuring up in terms of appearance is no good. It's even been proven that attractive, slim women are more successful in terms of employment and salary level than larger women. We're judged all the time based on how we look whether we like it or not, so to say it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks is a nice idea, but just doesn't cut it.

Nothing but agreement from me on this.

I don't actually understand the fascination with how women look. I am very, very rarely attracted to any man based on how he looks. I need to get to know someone before I can feel attracted to them, and, usually, only once I am attracted to them for who they are do I start to find them attractive physically.

I was asked a while ago what I like blokes to wear and I was totally dumbfounded by the question because I just don't think about it much. For me it will always be the person who matters most and what they look like, or how they are dressed, (within reasonable limits, and with a few exceptions), is much less important to me.

No, not true. I couldn't give a stuff how much money a bloke has. I'd rather make my own.

As I've said before, the day I rely on a man to provide for me is the day I shoot myself.

That was the response I expected from you. It proves that real people don't necessarily think how you believe they do. You reckon that all men go for skinny girls, but they don't. The media might make you think they do, but they don't. Likewise, TV programmes and magazines suggest that women like rich guys. In reality, most don't care about that. But, what happens is that if you're a larger woman or a poor man, you take all this cr@p to heart.

Well if I gave you the answer you wanted, I am changing my answer immediately!! I do so hate to do what's expected of me.

Seriously though, I know that not all blokes go for skinny women. I have a friend who is 26 stone and a size 30-something and she's been very happy with her boyfriend for years. He's a scrawny ex-lead singer for a death metal band. They make an odd couple, but they're happy.

However, I have been told I need to change far too many times by blokes, (especially blokes who wouldn't dream of accepting they are anything less than perfect), and it is very disillusioning to have unrealistic, (for me), ideas of perfection represented so liberally throughout the media, and here, for that matter. Look through the archives, there is usually at least one thread a day commenting on how great, or not, particular women are, (e.g. the cavegirl thread, for those of you that saw it). Then there were the women appreciation threads, all full of unrealistically skinny women. I've never seen a photo of a 'larger lady', fat or otherwise, posted on SN with anything other than negative comments.

There are many, many threads on here judging women by how they look, but hardly any threads assessing them for other attributes. It all leads to the conclusion that looks are the only thing that matter and if, as a woman, you don't measure up, you're stuffed and may as well give up.

In the middle of this thread, there were calls to keep it on topic.

The way it's panned out on page three is miles from the original question.

Can someone explain ?

... no, actually, don't bother.
