I first joined SIDC looking for a car, mainly as the owners in these forums tend to have better spec'd, well looked after cars - excluding most of the tracked ones (amazing what you can find searching people on VIP ).

I bought my car from a Scoobynet member after seeing the car on here - havent looked back since.

Being part of a community certainly enhances the ownership experience but it wasnt enough to sway my decision (my mind was already made up before I visited SN for the first time).

It was actually meeting a Scooby netter in real life (Big Goon) that probably made my mind up although I had wanted a scoob since the mid 90's but never got close to having the funds. I had a look at his STi 7 and thought to myself I had to have something like that! He also pointed me to SN and that was when I started to find out alot more about things.

I could only afford a WRX (MY03) which I picked up in March but once Ive got it PPP'd it will be close enough for me

Wanted a car that everybody else didn't have you know vectra. yuk, Fords etc, was recovering from my accident and watching rallying on TV and thought that Subaru, would be different, and havn't looked back, to be honest can't remember how I found SN, but so glad I did.

Yes, SN did feature as a reason to buy the Blackbeast. Why? well, I'd asked on here about scoobs, what they where, what they could do, and got great answers and saw a massive community spirit, so I knew if I got one there would be backup if I had any questions. If I'd not found SN I doubt I would have got the scoob.

I had already ordered my scoob before finding Scoobynet,and after finding the site it made me more eager than ever to get the car. This site really makes Scooby ownership complete and being part of the community and going to meets and stuff would probably play a part in staying loyal to Subaru.

Well many years ago, 4 last month to be more precise

I got an Impreza Sport as a company car, my choice, based on being unable to have a new Honda Prelude (my previous car to the scoob) as the company banned 2 door cars, and also as one of the sales guys previous had an R reg Turbo Wagon, and I had been in it once

When I got my Sport, I surfed the net to find out more about it, and found Scoobynet & SIDC (lost my original usernames and passwords)

Then late last year, I had come to the desicision that I was going to buy an Impreza Turbo (as I knew someone who was selling an RB5) so I 'rejoined' Scoobynet to find out a little bit more on the RB5

this was sold from under my nose (whilst at the bank arranging finance) so I turned to the Scoobynet For Sale & Wanted Pages, along with Autotrader & local dealers

Ultimatly I bought my car from Scoobynet on the 2nd December, from a guy who had only made about 3 or 4 posts previous to his for sale ad (his previous posts where when he sold his OE wheels 2 years earlier)

So yes SN helped me in my desicion making for my own Scoob, and effectively for the purchase

Yes, it did. Without SN I wouldn't have touched one with a barge pole.

I was looking for a for a fast car, and was thinking an M3/M5 might be rather nice - if streching the budget a bit. I'd thought Subarus the province of farmers or spotty riceboy yoofs with rearward facing baseball caps.

Someone at work suggested Subarus were actually quite good, look at Scoobynet, test drive one, etc.

I had a look at scoobynet, expecting all my prejudices to be confirmed. They weren't, of course. I found a motley collection of eccentrics, lunatics and sychopaths - in short, a reasonable cross section of the great unwashed public

So I added Subaru to list, went for a test drive and bought a WRX and a basball cap. Added an exhaust system and an ECU remap, and was happy as a happy thing. But now its too slow - I've been infected

My 16yo daughter says they are pimp mobiles, but still have class so I have to ferry here to school in it whenever possible (including today, ffs), so she can enjoy the stares

So yes, without scoobynet I wouldn't have one. I would have an M3 and be 10k poorer, and not be having quite the fun I'm having now, so thanks.

Bought my leggy after see colin mcrash on RAC rally win championship. Then found Scoobynet 18 months ago. .

Now leggy is up for sale as ive just bought Imprezza. And just to upset guys who pay loads for insurance just paid £24 extra to go from leggy to impreza for 12 months and its still under £500 per annum Ok its a Uk car but (IVE A BIG GRIN ON MY FACE EVERYTIME I GO OUT IN IT) just bloody paranoid about leaving it anywhere but im an old so and so at 42 plus i get discount for being HGV driver even with sp 30. Now looking forward to going to my First meet .

Although I found Scoobynet after buying the Impreza, I did use it for advice when buying my wife's car. I wouldn't necessarily say it was a deciding factor.

no i wasn't aware of scoobynet when i bort me scooby 18months ago, & was pointed in the direction of scoobynet when i kept emailing the SIDC with stupid questions lol.
I originally chose the car pretty much because of the impressive stats of the car being within my budget since finding scoobynet & partaking of the local (& not so local) meets i have discovered the huge bonus factor with the scoob namely that of the community & wasting all my time on scoobynet lol.
Now looking at possibility of upgrading to sumin a tad faster than UK scooby i'm drawn between the STi type R & an EVO & yes the scoobynet factor may have a decent input into staying within the brand although even if not will still tormeent many on here The infinite knowledge i have aquired from scoobynet (even if i've 4got most of it ) is also a great scooby factor!

Scoobynet was an excellent source of information when looking for my first scoob. Even sold the car on Scoobynet when I was leaving the country some months later. Definately an asset to the Subaru brand.

I found out about S/N when I was looking for a car. I knew I wanted a Terzo but was looking for a good one. Eventually (after 6 months!!) I found one on the Subaru UK website. Trouble was I'm in Essex, the car was in Scotland. I posted on the Scotland thread asking about the dealership/cars and only received positive replies. Therefore I flew up a couple of days later, test drove the car and bought it. A few weeks later I discovered that the former owner was on here to (hello Gordon Shek )and we've communicated on a number of occasions and he was able to tell me a little more about the car.

On a number of occasions I have posted various questions, be it about computers, brakes or different cars. I have always received helpful and informative responses. I've also made a number of new mates as I go to the Halfway House meet most months.

I've only got good things to say about the site. Except for the fact I've NEVER been spotted

Bought the Scooby first: then found Scoobynet.... through IWOC (Sorry, Steve). I use SN to inform buying decisions, and to help others with theirs, to the extent my knowledge and experience allow! Enjoy it greatly, 'specially now some of the nastiness has been squeezed out - well done Webby!

Was always going to buy an Impreza when the time was right, but got so much useful drivel out of muppets in the 18 months between finding here and buying the car I did not want to leave.

Now I have a scooby (sport) I can post everytime it makes a strange noise, and get an almost instant answer, however expensive the noise turns out to be.

Don't think I would have ever consider modding a car, until I started reading on here.

Decided to buy one after a test drive in 97. When I had the cash, I looked for a forum - found scoobynet, which helped choose which Scoob to buy (Jap WRX, MY00).

Also helped decide what upgrades to get.

Scoobynet was part of my decision for buying my second scoob.

Yes, scoobynet can get into a Subaru/IM/Dealer slagging match but I know so much more about cars and Subarus in particular because of it and I decided to trade in the RB5 for the Type UK last year.

webmaster,top marks for a excellent site,i know what your saying as in this day and age,owning a special car involves a lot more now with specialist internet forums dedicated to the enthusiast.ive owned rs's for 21yr's and the forums they have at the moment is a joke,either not working or kids who havent owned a real rs bragging about there exploits...i love imprezzas and sometimes i think shall i defect???hard decision for a rs nut but i think it speaks volumes for this site and quality of the members....top marks

I discovered ScoobyNet soon after I bought my UK00 car. But when it comes to change I will find it hard not to buy another Scoob. If it wasn't for ScoobyNet, I might find myself in an Evo

Imprezas are very special cars and ScoobyNet plays a major part in that. Other 'owners club' websites are just not the same. ScoobyNet has the best balance - high membership of mainly sensible people, loads of knowledge and a willingness to share, pride of ownership, strong sense of community (you get to meet 'real' friends - people with a strong common interest, rather than the folks that just happen to live in the same steet) and much more.

Recently, a fellow ScobyNetter e-mailed me to ask if I fancied a long weekend at the Nurburgring. My son and I are going in August to enjoy a few days we will never forget. Without ScoobyNet, I'd never have gone. I have bought and sold kit on here, transactions that would simply not be possible without ScoobyNet. And I have spent/wasted large amounts of money which, without ScoobyNet, would have left me much better off but also without a lot of fun

And just look at the stuff that gets posted in Non-Related - major personal and professional issues get aired/debated and quickly resolved by experts and kindred spirits. It's just amazing.

I think much of the credit must go to Simon De Bee for the care and passion he has, and to the Mods who keep it on the level.

And to be part of all this, you need to own a Scoob. Although other brands are always welcome, their owners seem to drift away after moving to the darkside

ScoobyNet is about more than just the metal.

I found SN by chance, whilst doing some research into the type of car that I wanted, and a few weeks later, the car that I was potentially going to buy.

As the car was a Jap Import & Type R, the advice I was given probably swung me to buying the car, as advice from non-scooby owning peps was either negative, or ill-informed.

Had the car for 2½ years now, no complaints except...
...attempted theft causing damage (after 2 days ownership).
...worries of legal ownership (thanks to BBC Watchdog).
...worries of potential engine damage despite running 98 RON.

S/N has always been a good resource on technical and scooby related issues to me.

Would I buy another Scooby because of S/N - probably not.
Would I buy another Scooby inspite of S/N - probably yes.

Is S/N good value - definately.

I had always loved imprezas since about 19/20 when I had a ride in a mates Sti type R with a 22b kit. Was the fastest thing I had been in and I was hooked on the bonnet scoop, agressive looks and sound.

Found Scoobynet by chance and signed up. Looked around for about 6 months trying to get a P1 but couldnt really afford one. Then bought my MY00 Turbo from another SN member.

SN was a choice in me buying a Scoob - mainly all the advice, modding and the whole friendly waving thing when your out on the road.

It wasn't Scoobynet, more the internet that made me able to get my Impreza. A year or so of reading Performance Car had made my mind up about getting the Scoob, I just couldn't afford them. However it wasn't until the internet was available at work that opened up all the avenues of importing direct from the Jap auctions. It was whilst doing this I stumbled across SN, SIDC and IWOC.

I was going to import an E30 M3 from Germany, but I couldn't find the right car, even with contacts over there. As the months passed, by chance I discovered that low milage WRX's could be imported within my budget.

Never looked back, however that M3 would have been a nice stepping stone to the Subaru
