It all seems to have gone quite on this thread so I'll ask a quetion, has any one that was at the front of the queue ie placed their original order late April/early May had any tyres yet?(via mail order).

My original order (4 215/40/17's) was placed on 1st May,usual no show of tyres and then a refund at the end of May with the promise
of tyres early June on a prioriy basis from the original order.
Not heard a dicky bird since and have now given up and got some Toyo's.
This too good to be true tyre price was just that. Shame really,
but the guy just bit off more than he could handle and ended up with a bad name - which I dont really think he deserves.

Never mind, bald falken's coming off toworrow and Toyo's going on,
although i was looking forward to trying the Goodyears.

Good luck to those still waiting!
Nick.

I spoke to Dave at Crossroads this morning and he said that his supplier has let him down, and now he has no idea when he will be getting the tyres (215/40 17's) that I ordered back at the beginning of May.

I've made several visits to the garage to get this information, and phoned what seems like hundreds of times and was even supposed to have the tyres fitted last Wednesday (I turned up but the tyres didn't).

Despite this I still think that he genuinely wanted to sell the tyres, and has just been extremely bad at keeping people informed.

I've asked to stay on his list, as if they ever do arrive they will make a very cheap next set.

If you do want to get hold of him I recommend ringing between 8:30 and 10:00 in the morning as this seems to be the only time when he answers his phone.

Ordered mine April 29th. Usual story - no updates from David. Left numerous voicemails - not one returned. Held on due to good price, damn Id even pay £300 for em. Refund came in the post with new delivery date of june 6th. Still heard nowt. Complete waste of time in my opinion. Glad he got the boot from Scoobyshop. No matter what went wrong there is no real excuse to never return calls, emails etc.

the more i think about this, the more i start to think there must be something wrong, says his supplier let him down, but he has said to many other people that he has the tyres in Farnham, when i spoke to him on the 6th june i remember him saying that the container was on its way from Southampton etc etc.

just start to think its a bit suspect, cause i went over there to sort out my refund, and it is a busy garage and looks fine, but my refund cheque was a) dated 27th June with DONT BANK BEFORE written on it, and also seemed to be from a personal account, i.e. an individual, and it wasn't Dave Hunts name on it - we will see if it goes through ??

...dated 27th June with DONT BANK BEFORE
Pretty sure banks reserve the right to cash cheques when they receive them, post dating does not work. If he hasn't got the money he shouldn't have written the cheque, if he does you should try and cash it.

Promised my refund was in the post last Friday (20/06/03), surprise, surprise it still has not shown up yet! Anyone got any advice on going through the credit card company to get money back?

I don't know about other companies, but Barclaycard has a specific protection plan for internet purchases - http://www.barclaycard.co.uk/Card_Be...ery/tandc.html. If not then just contacting the card company helpdesk would be a good place to start.

Sorry if not totally related, but just got some new 17" alloys and am looking for good/cheap tyres, can have some marshalls (215/40 ZR) fitted today for £200 all up at local trusted garage(fitting balancing etc..), does this sound a good deal, anyone had experiences with these?

£310 is pretty good - I doubt that you'd get them cheaper anywhere else.

Thats what I thought too, I bet we still won't get through though, who know's. maybe he's really genuine, and had a family disaster or something, although that doesn't explain everything, he certainly seemed genuine when I went and got my first four!

Got a mate in Sheffield who's in the motor trade to get me a good deal as a favour. Normal price would be £100+ per tyre, so it's not a repeatable deal I'm afraid.

What would happen if you paid by CC, and have also informed the CC company of the problems, filled out relevant forms etc to get money back? Would the cc company credit me back and then sort the issue out with crossroads?

Alan. (now getting a bit worried)

Phone between 8 and 10am - I got through over 50% of the time during this time range. Don't bother afterwards. He was getting about 150 calls a day, which is now down to about 60. He has told me that everyone will be getting a refund. I've met him and he doesn't seem the type who'll run off with your money.

I ordered 2x Eagle F1 205/50/16 on the 15th May and payed with credit card. Tyres weren't delivered on given date of 16th June so started chasing Crossroads. Excuses were given with every call no response from email or Fax so semt all info to HSBC who swiftly recovered it for me. I didn't want to take any chances with the guy going under and losing the money.

If your worried and tired of waiting start the ball rolling and try and reclaim through your card company.
