well, no, but :

kinda defeats your argument?

I actaully agree with some of what you are saying.

But it does not matter where I live, I am happy here, and that is what matters.

no.

I wouldn't consider myself a racist. My friends would not consider me a racist. Professional friends would not consider me a racist.

I am what you see. Unlike you, of course.

Do you live in a caravan then? Is this what you take offence to?

If so, then I take great offence to the statement that I am one of those "who live in the poky little shoebox estate houses with narrow drives and tiny garages"

sounds pretty racist to me- and no I don't live in a caravan- I'd prefer that to the suburban hell of an estate though.

"I am what you see"- what a profile with nothing in it?? A faceless person on a BBS. As far as I can see your exactly the same as me in that respect. I havent taken any offence I just wondered what your motive for name calling was KrankyD?

I didnt say you lived in one of those awful places KrakyD

edited again to remove quotes of racist name calling by KrankyD that the mods missed.

>>I am what you see"- what a profile with nothing in it

Read my posts, and then decide what kind of a person I choose to present to an internet bulleting board.

>>I just wondered what your motive for name calling was

I wanted to know if you lived in a caravan or not.

Apparently you don't then. I'm not making an issue out of it. Why are you?

Question

suburban hell of an estate though
Is this like a council estate - becuase I loathe these crime breeding "trisha like guests" inhabited people.

....or maybe a new build of homes on the outskirts of a town close to the countryside that are bought by middle class professional people - and one in which I live in.

I've had to delete a few posts in this thread for the reason that personal abuse or attack on an individual poster, no matter whether that poster's view is extreme or not is not tolerated on scoobynet.

If anyone concerned has issue with that please email me directly.

Regards

I'm sorry to say I can't see much difference between council estates and the others. In general they attract the same type of people the only difference being that those on the private estate have a little more money.
If your happy living there then then thats fine by me.....it means that those of us who find the whole thing rather gauche don't have to.
The idea of living cheek to jowl with those kind of folk makes me shudder.

I have to disagree.

People where I live do not wear gold chains over the top of their latest matalan designer special and soverin rings on each finger.

??

What a bigoted viewpoint. You might as well just shoehorn everyone who earns less that 20 grand, and lives in cheap housing, into the same pidgeon-hole? you're affectivly (sp) doing this!

Have you thought that people on low-incomes cannot afford to live in `nice` area's? I've lived in some real s**t-holes in the past, and I can say the people living there are far nicer, less stuck-up and more friendly than people living where I do now( a `rather` posh stables-and-a-farm type hangout, with people who go shooting and organise hunts)

Mabey you should actually get to know some people who live in these area's? You might even realise that there are good people where-ever you go. They're not just limited to `nice` area's.....

Question

BenP, but what if people can't/don't earn enough money to afford a better lifestyle? Why is it necessarily their fault? Wouldn't you admit there are some honest, hard-working people in those sorts of estates doing all the mundane jobs you or i would rather not do?

firstly I'm not BenP- I don't even know who he is! I have now been mistaken for Turbo Kitty who I've heard of and someone else I havent. I assure you I am neither of these people.

secondly I havent said that living on a council estate makes someone a bad person. Just that its the same sort of place as those estates that people pay live in by choice.
Its not bigoted at all - I haven't judeged them on race/creed or sex just on the type of lifestyle they have chosen by living there. To be honest I have a lot more respect for folk on council estates as they rarely choose to live there. What I can't understand is why when they actually get some cash they choose to move to another type of estate.

I think you are reading a lot of your own ideas into what I actually said.

edited to add : money has nothing to do with how good a person is in my opinion

There are some real sh1te areas, we all know them but we choose to live where we do dont we !! London is full of them, some nice places to go, but wouldnt want to live there.

should this be locked ! ? !, pistols at dawn whoever wants them.

Do you actually know what a bigot is?

let me `educate` you...

>>One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.

You don't actually think that people say `well, we could live somewhere really nice, but I would much prefer to live down on southcroft road, in the old council estate. I really enjoy living in a deprived area, and I hope I live there forever`

No I don't and I've never said that- as for being bigoted- whose thread was deleted for racist and offensive comments? Put your own house in order first.

What I said is I find those poxy little (or big) houses on nightmarish estates bought primarily by the nouveau riche with more money than taste to be tacky and repellent just like the majority of those that live in them. To my mind they are bringing the country down just as much as all the thieving scum who sniff round my car.

I'm also glad that intervention by the mods has stopped the childish name calling you and some others seem to need to stoop to in place of any cohesive argument.

Yeah, I've been to sussex.

To be honest, it's a lot like surrey, richmond, and a lot of the London commuter communities. A lot of `rich` people moving into small area's, driving up the house prices, then complaining when the corner shop doesn't stock champagne, only pot-noodles.

Wow, things do heat up on Scoobynet don't they? I came on to make my first post. The intention was to give an update on my partner Jerome who is a scooby regular now somewhere in the Gulf -last I heard from him 9 days ago he was in Kuwait with the Army. I must say I did more or less agree with Fluffer in his first comment. I think he was just telling it like it is. Jerome and I both have dual nationality, Canadian and British. I've been here for a decade but the current situation is pushing me back to Canada with Jerome's things so we can set up a life with some sort of quality over there.

This doesn't feel like the place I moved to and enjoyed for many years. The night Jerome sold his Scoob it was keyed down 3 panels when the buyers were on their way to see it. As far as neighborhoods are concerned - thought I chose pretty well being nestled between Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace but yesterday I watched (admitted curtain twitcher)as it took the police 5 hours to bust the crack house in the next building. Scumbags are everywhere & as proud as I am to be British, I'm leggin' it.
