T boned a lads Huffy with an MOT failure Raleigh chopper, chopper undamaged, Huffy was Banana shaped, served him right for being older and very mean to me (Dont get mad get even)

Lol Andy Ruffel did a display at my school and he fell off bunnyhopping bikes.

Talking of cool pushbikes I still have a chopper which is in good nick and think that they are worth a few quid now.

The bendy wheels were ACS Z Rims

I had a Diamond Back Pacer 500. Mushroom grips (with the metal c poking through, from smashing it on the floor when I went in for tea!) with black finger brakes and beartrap pedals (still got the shin scars!). That bike was "The Don" bike in my street! The old days eh? Sorry almost forgot the obligatory front trick nuts for your mates and the removal of all padding to show how hard you were at age 10.

ooo bmx's hehehehehehe

i graduated like so many from the grifter onto a raleigh burner (blue and yellow one with skyway wheels..... early tuff burner i think...) then onto one of the muddy fox bikes which was the nuts by comparison and soooooooooooo much lighter, was the bike to beat for race and freestyle on my estate then some lads from the local council estate use to come over and try and i once had it nicked by four of them, got it back tho

when i moved to the south of england and started work, one of the other trainee chefs with me was a guy called stuart ....whittaker i think it was, and i remembered seeing him as a privateer that was on the old kellogs uk vs usa bmx races and he did rather well, he was sponsored by Kuwahara after that (stunning bikes, stunningly expensive!) complete with redline + shaped crank and all sorts of expensive parts, but as bmx died shortly after it was still sitting in his garage only raced for 6 months and in mint condition! I was in awe after moving down from near glasgow hehehehe.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh !!! Skyway TA , never new anyone with one of those ! They were the Ferrari of BMX's back in the day.
Love some of the old bike names that are cropping up ! Who remembers the skyway streetbeat , used to be available in loads of mad colours like lavender & stuff , sadly they were mega expensive aswell!!

Cool

Did anyone have one of the bikes fitted with a "Sturmey Archer" (I think) gear drum on the back wheel? Every one I had broke after about 2 weeks and the bike would be stuck permanantly in one gear, usually third. I had a Grifter, which got nicked, then a Raleigh Super Burner. I jumped off a ramp with it once and knocked myself unconscious. I suppose Imprezas/Evos etc are just BMXs for grown-ups. Heh!

I got a Kuwarah after watching the ET film, nice maroon and white colours. After that I got Mac Trax, Tange cro mo frame, with a suntour groupset (including quick release brakes) and Araya rims.

I was gutted when I found out that trick nuts wouldn't fit.

One thing I have begun to notice from this thread is how many mums & dads have got old BMX's in their lofts ! I tell you now though , once you dare to re-discover the old bikes it's so tempting to get into the old restoration & then starts the 'have a look at E Bay , just to look , then before you know it ! Fierce I've now got 3 old BMX's !!!! Where did they spring from ? P.S gotta go I'm just off to do something Radical!!!!!!

Does anyone remember 'BMX Beat' which was on in the summer holidays? It was hosted, I think, by Pat Sharp. There was a guy called Pepe Winder (Stuart 'Pepe' Winder I think??) who always won!

It was a freestyle competition.
