Here's a few pics of my setup, cause RichS was asking about it the other night
I plug my guitar into the Zoom 8080 Floor Controller, which goes into the stomp boxes, which goes back into the zoom, and into whichever amplifier i'm in the mood for
The Pedals are all Boss, except for 1 delay pedal. In no order, they are...
Blues Driver (dark blue)
Chorus (light Blue)
Flanger (purple)
Overdrive (orange)
Auto Wah (beige)
And the delay which isn't the best
The Guitar is a Californian Strat
The Amp is a Fender Roc Pro 700, Marshall 30 watt thing, and a BFO bass amp
I think that covers it

Nice to see Jim martin getting a mention amongst the usuall well known guitarists such as Eddie van Halen and your Joe satriani's
Not much said about Mr up himself Steve Vai?
I must also agree that Marty Friedman from megadeth is up there amongt the best. His solo in the song Tornado of soles on the Rust in piece album is my all time favourite solo.
And how does Ozzy always manage to get the best guitar players?
As for bass players, I hope you haven't forgotten the late, great Cliff Burton.

Is that a pink Strat you tart
TBH, the only reason I've still got the strat is cause you can't get them anywhere anymore (unless someone wants to make me an offer? ) I'd rather have a Epihone Les Paul, and stick some decent pickups into the tele

Want a shot of my setup Rich? It has a thin neck though, and despite having it set up, it's still crap to play I blame the strings. I told them to put XL's on it, and they put cheap crap on
Is there anywhere to buy strings online?

I've just found This thread about buying strings online
But aye, next time you're over the bridge or in the area, give us a shout, you're welcome anytime There's even a local 300 metres down the road
On another topic. I've just got the new Third Eye Blind LP, and it's really good. Well worth checking out if you're into american guitar bands

OMG, how can anyone say frusciante is an average player, he is poss. the greatest, check out some of his solo stuff (OK, he is no singer!!!!)
He is fairly left-field though, and seems to conect to some strange place when going into 'jam' territory

Another bump for this thread...
Any comments on good valve/tube amps suitable for home use?
(I've read that you need to crank 'em up to get the benefit of the "tube" sound - so does that mean I should stick with solid state amps if I don't want to upset the neighbors?)

What about forgotten guitarists with the Yngwie influence.....
Daniel L Dalley - young guy who release Power Suite way back in 89 (ish)
Joe Stump - releasing some superb instrumental material right now.

Rich - yes valve amps need to be wound up to the max to get the output valves saturating.
Even a valve 6 watt amp like the Cornford Harlequin will maybe be a bit too loud for the house.
If it is just for home use Sound Control (I got mine in their Glasgow store) sell the Orange crush range of tranny amps.
They do them in 10 & 15 watt versions with & without reverb.
I bought 2 to use in stereo with my Digitech RP7 & they are certainly loud enough for the house.£59 each 10 watt without reverb.
You can read about them at Oranges own website or read reviews by people who have bought one at Harmony-Central.com

Haven't read the whole thread, BUT my one ambition in life was to play 'Albatross' by Fleetwood Mac ............... bought a guitar and took lessons to do just that!!
In my opinion, one of the BEST guitar tracks EVER!!!

John Frusciante is the only Guitarist I have ever heard who can convey so much feeling into one individual note, although considered "left-field" I have tried so many times to "ape" his technique, but fail miserably!! Playing fast/heavy rock and rock solos is a piece of p!ss, but try to copy the man Frusciante and you will find it one of the hardest things to do!
Edited to say, I am basing away on a '62 replica american Strat - fantastic warm tone

Currently still using an old Hondo II LP lookalike (almost 20 years old), and a Washburn MG30 (in need of a restring). Also have a Norman acoustic, an electro-acoustic which I really should get rid of (never use it, so it's just taking up space), and my original old acoustic of indeterminate make/origin that my Dad bought me.
Also using a Digitech multi FX box, and an old Peavey Audition Plus practice amp that's loud enough to rattle the windows in the house
Oh, and a corner
