42cm arms now getting there slowly but surly
Si - the irony is the hardcore body builders are never happy with themselves. It's just the other end of the anorexia scale; same illness - different end.

Look what happened to British Bulldog. I knew him personally, a major 'roid head - he can have as much definition and strength as he wants; but it won't help where he is now.

Know the limit.

i think you have got some peoples replies copmpletly wrong on here.

i am not a 'lazy git' as you mention, i do a 3 mile run every day plus gym every other day so im in a fit state.

i respect these men for what they are doing, and can see the dedication, but when they become obbsessed with getting thier muscles as big as possible and risking thier lives to do so this is usually the pointin which i would say its a bit 'crazy' to say the least...

but all to thier own... like i say, i respect the dedication...

You don't need drugs to get big, just hard work and dedication..
I achieved WINNING the MASTERS (over 43 years old class) Natural Bodybuilding GB championship last October, NO DRUGS and TESTED.... and ended up third place in the WORLD NATURAL BODYBUILDING CHAMPIONSHIP...

Unfortunately, not a lot of support or interest by the Mags for the Natural bodybuilding scene. The natural bodybuilder may not be as massive as those on the drugs, but are normally larger than the average person in the street...

Yes it is true that with drugs you have to work just as hard, but like all drugs, there is a risk factor...!! Is it really worth it for that 5 mins of fame, maybe in America whereby the rewards are greater, not the case in the UK... Don't get me wrong, I respect those who compete and get the titles, it's not easy winning a competition. I know, it's bloody hard and everyone forgets all the hours of preparation in getting ready for any show competition....!!!

Personally, I trained to get fit, improve my body structure and health.... I have been training for over 16 years and learnt from an old Universe champion back in the late 60's, who competed with the likes of Arnold when he first started out in UK, before he went onto America...

Enough from me... Enjoy and avoid injuries as they always come back to haunt you..!!

OJ...

oj, sage advice.

Sadly, there are people on here who think that injuries are badges of honour of sorts, to prove how hard they've been training. IMO, sometimes going the extra mile is going just that bit too far.

Cool

TurboKitty - unfortunately too many people rush into their training, believing that they know how to train after a few months.!! without understanding the basic principle of the techniques and the mechanics of the movements.... then they go for the max weight and beyond, coz someone who is bigger pushes those weights, but not really appreciating that they have taken years to get there, unless they have started cheating with the added extras...!! For those who are naive and immature will full into the trap and become dependent on the gear, even though they are unlikely to compete. They do not really understand what they are doing, but have spoken with the so called experts who have tried it for a while and gained the size they wanted, and therefore follow that path...!!

I have seen this so many times, and a few people telling me how they are going to compete and win a show..!!! Competing isn't all about working out in the gym, there's is lot more involved than the average person on the street thinks...!! Diet preparation is a science, understanding how your body ticks, and getting yourself into the best physical shape for that competition date... Posing routines, again getting the best out of each muscle group when going through the compulsory section, then you have around one & half minutes to do your own posing routine. Working on your weak body parts, it's hard enough working on your best body part.. and there's more, which I will not bore people with..!!

Anyway, I enjoy my training and the results, the natural way.. Yes it has taken me years... I suffer from old injuries that I picked up when I used to play American football many many years ago. But I know how to train round these, understanding which movements to avoid, and the most important thing of all using common sense..!!!

Well that ends my sermon for today..!!!

Train hard and correctly, avoid injuries as these will haunt you for ever..!!!

OJ....

PS- I apologise if the above is unclear, my excuse, that I have finished my night shift and returned from the gym... going back into work tonight as well..!!

Thats sound advice OJ.

One of the hardest and most painful muscle groups i find to work are the fore arms thats so painful!

i remeber Davey Boy Smith He was a massive bloke! What did happen to him?
