Scoobysnacks - I was not sure whether it was confirmed yet, Missed out on being the main lighting designer to one of my mates, may still be working on the show for some of the dates if I can getthe time off the proper job.

I was another one who was scared to death by this as a child. We used to live on a main road and if the traffic went quiet I'd panic that it's because one of the war machines was striding up the street

"And oh, the sweetness of the air"
Something that always comes to mind when I take my lid off after a sweaty track session
Got it on CD, had it on vinyl when it came out. Is it just me, or have we lost something with the demise of 12" album covers and all the fantastic artwork that went with it?

Astraboy, did they drop this choon (ahem) at Raindance, wonder what a load of Ravers would make of it !

SB, you're spot on - 12" album covers were the most incredible form of art. Groups like Yes and Iron Maiden with the trademark Eddie - the art has died out. Wonder what they've replaced it with? Pop videos?

Ah, War of the Worlds. Always reminds me of rallying. I had actually never heard of it, but then started to run chase for a mate of mine using his old Discovery, and he only ever had one tape in the car (War of the Worlds) and a buggered aerial. As I always forgot to bring some tapes, we had to listen to it on a loop non stop on average of around 10 weekends a year.
DER..DER..DEEERRRRRR indeed.

No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century that human affairs were being watched from the timeless worlds of space No one could have dreamed that we were being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of life on other planets. And yet, across the gulf of space, minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely, they drew their plans against us.
Ahh those words God I remember it so well

Okay, so who's now got it in the car after the thread yesterday???
I have brought in my digital camera, so I'll endeavour to wander over in to Woking town centre and get a picture of the martian tripod.

I think whoever did the casting did a great job.
Richard Burton's voice is just fantastic - he seems to have so much emotion it in. In the line "I looked up enviously at those on board, straight in to the eyes of my beloved Carrie" his emotion os so powerful.
Phil Lynott - you can imagine a crazy parson with a dodgy afro can't you (Father Ted almost!) "No, you're one of them, a DEVIL!"
David Essex - great voice too, a good choice as the artilleryman.
Did you know that album was about three years in the making???

Burton: Not everybone has left. Look. Six cannons, with gunners standing by!
Essex: Bows and arrows against the lightning...
Somebone *really* should make a proper film of this

Take a look around you, at the world you used to know. Does it seem to be much than a crazy circus show.
We drank, and then he insisted on playing cards. With our species on the edge of extermination with no prospect but a horrible death we actually played games..
Guess whats on the CD player now
