It's just typical forum mentality, but a useful indicator of who to listen to in future

Nice but much prefer a real Merc ... like the best ever 1955 300SL Gull Wing. Stuttgart have not topped that so far and never will IMHO ...

You must be a real old timer if you think that a 1955 car is the only true merc.

That is one hell of a motor mate!
Does your brother run a plumbing company by any chance?

Top machine - I got blasted by one recently on the M25 - utterly gorgeous sound.
It is a seriously quick motor - in an Autocar test about a year ago, it was quicker to 300kph (183mph) than anything else - Vantage, 911 Turbo, Murcielago, 575. It was 30 seconds (yes, no typo) quicker than the Ferrari to that mark. IIRC it managed 203mph flat out (it was at Nardo) against the Murcielago's 205. It was slower on most other increments that the Lambo (0-62, 0-124), but flew above 150mph.
I must be getting old, but if I had the budget this would be right up at the top of my shopping list.

Nice

My old man took delivery of his car yesterday, ready for the weekend. Not an SL55 unfortunately, plumped for the SL500 instead (but I think hes regretting it a bit now...wishes he had gone for the AMG one now IMO...)

I was pissing myself when he was doing the suspension, its awesome

BTW, my dad isnt gay (as far as I know anyway)

Partially true. When I saw one as a small boy back then I promised I'd get one when I was all growed up ...... Nice ones go for only £1.5 million quid now! Which makes modern mercs' prices look like small change! So, I'm not the only one who rates Gull-Wing 300SLs highly apparently ....

Never forget, or better still ALWAYS remember, age is merely a state of mind young Jimi me lad. Fail to appreciate that and you'll be old before your time .......

Sad to say that as I look around me whilst driving about, I get the very strong impression that driving and owning highly expensive high performance cars on UK roads today is a frustrating affair. Bit like keeping a Peregrine Falcon in a metre cube cage ..... Sad ...

1.5 millon quid! are you sure!

My brothers sl55 cost £96k so that is a very expensive car indeed but when we talk about super cars thats not a bad price really.

I must say that the car looks really nice but the bridge in the background really takes the picture to its full value.
