i must apologise, i was the bloke with the vid camera walking by as u was trying to start her up and i commented on the smell of oil from ur zorst, i didnt think to look back again and see if u was ok, i was kinda caught up in the whole thing and concentrating more on filming.
if i realized u were in trouble i woulda tried to help but i aint got a clue on the engine and would have been no help wotso ever.
i have video footage of u first trying to start her up but i guess thats the last thing u wana see.
looking back on it i feel bad that i didnt realize

Top night apart from the fact I got done big time by a mobile speed camera on the A127 outside Rayleigh at 02.15 coming back from Beemerboys house Wasn't purposely speeding, looked down at the speedo and saw I was doing a lot more than I should be so took foot off accelerator, next thing I know I've gone past a mobile camera and a van sitting in trees
I think I was doing about 90 as I went past it so god knows how far up the road it got me but I was under engine breaking so don't know how far they scan up the road or how much speed you lose how quickly under engine breaking over a set distance
All I know is I wasn't hacking it purposely otherwise I'd hold my hands up and say I deserverd it. Its typical I wasn't watching the speedo and realised just before I noticed the speed camera
Sods law and all that... might even be a court appearance/loss of license depending how far away they got me as when I first looked at the speedo I was between 100 and 110 and let off as soon as I realised, thats one lesson learnt about not concentrating on the speedo late at night on a clear dual carriageway!
Is it 14 days I have to be told by? Will be waiting for the posty nervously for the next 2 weeks
Hope this wasn't my first and last Southend meeting!

Really sorry to hear that Bravo ... about three months back myself and a mate actually stopped and questioned the police that were lurking in the trees where you were flashed about the new law saying they must be clearly visible from the road - we were briskly told where to go!
It might be worth asking that though because we saw the van and it had some van hire companies signature on the side and no markings to indicate it was Police. Also the officers were not wearing flourescent vests and I understood that it is illegal for them to not wear flourescent tops at night along a roadside.
On another note a pal of mine was flashed doing 85 in a 50 zone and he was given six points and a hefty fine ... no ban. I know it's no consolation really but hopefully you won't get banned or anything as serious as that!
Sorry again.
Rob

xscooby - sorry mate, I don't think anyone was aware of a car not starting due to the noise when everyone else fired up! Gutted for you mate... I hope they find the problem and it's nothing serious or expensive.
bravo - I think it's 3 weeks before they have to notify you, but I'm not sure.
And with regards to the law about them having to be visible AFAIK that's only if the force want to keep the money to buy more speed (sorry safety(!)) camera's with ??
I had quite a good night, couldn't believe how busy Southend was, don't normally see so many cars parked up as far down as they were, but it looked great with the row of 15 scoobies on the sea wall - does anyone have any photo's ??

Hope all is cool.

Who is Scooby_Sam 03?
Don't think I know you dude! I don't have a prob with the blokes I know giving me a bit of a dig as they know me and it's all in good spirits but as I don't think I know you would appreciate you toning it down a bit, as there is always a point where it goes slightly too far.
Later y'all
Top meet Tiny, managed to keep in pretty much a formation!! - Japfest soon,

Sorry your car didn't start XSCOOBY , after trying the bump start & having no joy Me & Ipski1 felt bad at leaving , but you did say you were a member of the AA & that we should catch the convoy up. Hope it gets sorted & see you at the next one!!
XSCOOBY- Sorry to hear of your problems in the car park m8,Hope that you can get your car sorted soon, Keep in touch
Hope that everyone enjoyed the 1st meet of the summer season, We shall make this a regular meet on the 1st Saturday of every month, Hopefully the parking will be a bit easier next time
I think that you will agree that it was better heading London bound first to help to keep us all in formation. ( cheers Rob mo)
Think that we counted around 50 scoobs, So thanks again for everyone who turned up to make this such a good meet, And look forward to seeing you on May 3rd ( XSCOOBY You can go 1st
)
Sorry to hear of you guy's who think that you may have been caught speeding on the way out ( sounds like the old bill were very sneaky!!)
All the best Darren...

Rob ... real sorry to hear I got your message correctly, was hoping I hadn't. You may only get points and a fine though, again I know its not really any consolation but it's something at least.
Sorry again mate, will hope for a lenient decision if anything does happen. when the police are at the beginning and end of their shifts the cameras are put on test mode and flash twice but don't actually record a picture - may have been the case with your one, you never know.

darren saying i could go first has made me laugh for the first time today even though my up to now my 100% reliable car is sitting outside looking sorry for itself

No worries mate ! I'm sure we were tempting fate as I've just had to post in the General Tech area with a problem!!!!
Glad you got home , 10:30 wasn't too bad considering it was a Saturday night.
But all in all it was a good night , 50 Scoobs in a convoy was something to behold , see you at the next one & I'll even wash my scoob next time!!!!

X Scoob ... I know exactly how you feel! My car got ill last weekend and is still sick ... hence not being able to take it to what would have been my first meet! Although hitching a lift was good is wasn't the same. Hopfully my car will be put right tomorrow and hope yours gets fixed soon and doesn't cost you silly money ... I was in one of the first cars to leave and, again, only heard about your's when I got out of my mates car down in Southend. It's always difficult to get messages around in a convoy that large.
On another note have you got the Parts and Labour Cover with your AA policy. I bought my policy yesterday and if any part in my car engine fails they will pay £500 (inc VAT) towards the repair of the part that failed and to any subsidiary parts which were damaged as a result of the failure?
Hope your views on fellow Scooby drivers aren't tarnished, because I know if I had known and could have helped I would have. Same for anybody else who has probs.

well it just so happens yes i do have that aa policy and i have to say it is well worth the money as i allready have had them pay out on a gearbox problem to the tune of £475
but at this rate i think they will be refusing me next year thanks for the positive relys though

Robroy, sorry to hear you got done too m8. I didn't see any flashes so I don't know what system it was they were using, all I saw was a big stick sitting in the ground, no tripod or anything, but then by the time I noticed it I wasn't exactly able to have a good look at it.
Lets just hope they had many others go past faster than us and we don't get hit hard. Group buy on a specialist solicitor???
Let me know if you get any nice police notice through in the post.
Sorry to hear about Xscooby breaking down, again I was never aware of anyone having issues when I left Tescos, and again I know nothing about fixing cars so would have been bu66er all help. I would have been gutted too as well though if it had been me, hope the car gets sorted and you get to enjoy the next meet.
Thanks to Tiny for a good Saturday night out.
Bob

breaking news m8, Beemerboy went down there Sunday morning and had a look about and there was a recovery vehicle parked in that spot with fluorescent marking down side and on the back and looks like a police transit van. He also spoke to a 'contact' and they there was no known mobile traps out on the a127 on saturday sunday!
I can't for definate say it said police on the side of the van, I only saw it at the last moment. The stick in the ground didnt look like a camera I must admit but thought it could have been a laser detector type thing.
There were no flashes or anything but if it was laser you wouldn't see it anyway.
Are you sure it was definately a police van? I am even tempted to drive up there today and see if its the same van in the same place I saw and if there is a big stick stuck in the ground that has nothing to do with a speed trap?
I'm bricking it still and just want to know one way or another if we got done!

**** m8 well I hope you get minimum penalty at worst if they send you anything. I never saw any flashes.
What time were you flashed and where was it exactly? Mail me off line if you dont want to put it up on here etc.
What ever happens I have learnt a big lesson on concentrating on my right foot and speedo and not thinking about other things.
Have been told you are normally notified within 10 days now but I suppose it depends how many they are processing.
All the best m8 and hope to see you at the next meeting.
