I've got a full Scoobymania 3" system, although noise levels was'nt a concern on purchase it appears to be one of the quieter 'back box only silenced' systems around. All IMO

John

No-one has mentioned the Power Engineering T75 system yet. It is a 3" system, I have got it fitted from the turbo back so far. They claim it is flowed for 400 Bhp with a high flow cat in the centre section only. Also passes the emission test.

I found it to be well made and fitted the car without any problems. (MY 94 STI 1) It is not too noisy with the T75 rear box only. Worth a look perhap's. I read the Garrett engineer's article too and agree with your feelings about rear exhaust diameter.

Les

Ah, but can you make a really quiet one?
One that looks aren't that important, but flow & a low noise level are?

HKS Hiper can flow easily enough for Johns target - but it sounds like a ww2 bomber.

However it can also be run in quite mode with an HKS exhaust bung.]

Claudius,

did you read the post from the guy at Garrett who you would think might know a little about this subject - he says that over 350bhp - a 3in system is must!

It is OK, I have joined the merry crew of those who use a runabout daily since my Scooby gearbox stuffed itself last night. So I now might go totally bonkers on the Scooby and go for the WW2 bomber, we'll see.

Had a 3 inch from MRT Australia with a high flow cat and resonator fitted 3 weeks ago and the sound is perfect. Inside no real difference, outside just the nice boxer sound. Passes MOT which is a bonus. Power is much improved. Recommend it highly.

I've got a 95 WRX with the TD05 turbo, scoobysport 3" - 2.5" downpipe, TSL straight through centre pipe, and a Blitz NUR spec back box. It seems to breathe freely enough to me, noticed a HUGE difference when I changed to this from the Fujitsubo system it had when I bought it.
The sound is a little 'fruity' though, in fact, if I take it over 1500rpm when reversing out of the garage in the morning, it sets the wife's car alarm off!!
My neighbours love it!

Not.

I didnt realise this at first, but 3 inches is a mere 77mm or so. I'm getting a 80mm exhaust and there's also 85mm available. I'd definitely go 80mm!

Metric, guys, metric

I'm thinking of going 3" all the way aswell. Pat has designed a system with H&S that is 3.5"(but you could have 3").It comes out at an angle like the Hiper and the backbox looks like an Apexi.Pat has designed it to hopefully flow more air than a Hiper but be quieter(by making the backbox very long).I know Moray already runs it and I'm probably going to buy a 3" version.

Hi John, sorry did not see Davids post.If we are saying that bigger is better after the turbo then why not a 3.5" system rather than 3"
