Mine drives it quite often which is ok because she gets scared when she goes over 40mph.

..nope - Melanie aint allowed to drive mine till she's been on an airfield in it and learnt the limits... dont get me wrong, she knows her 106GTi inside out and is a hooligan when out in the lanes, but 120BHP and front wheel drive is slightly different to 250Bhp+ 4 wheel drive.. given time she will tho..

Mine has a accident (in her own car) a minimum of once a year, so there is no chance of her getting in the drivers seat of the scoob! What makes me laugh is that when i got an insurance quote on her car in my name it was more than the quote in her name!!

My Wife has driven both my '98 and my P1.

Although she's a good driver,I prefer to drive myself, but that's just because I'm a bad passenger.

I drive a £300 fiesta (i have a motorbike 1000cc), my wife owns the Scooby Sport. I get to drive it at the weekend and when we go 'cos i'm a bad passenger as well. I've always wanted one and it did take a lot of convincing for her to get one...but now she loves it !....do you know how long it took me to find a blue one with air-con !...months !!!!

I can't get any bugger to drive mine.

I really want to see what it looks like being driven but my girlfriend and mates all know how much I love it. They say they are far to scared of damaging her.

Just have to find a dirty great mirror I s'pose!

My missus says she won't go near the steering wheel (on the road) cos she'd be too worried about damaging it - I've wanted a Scooby for the last 7 years we've been together (hey what can I say it took me a long time to buy one!)

....however....she says she knows of a nice BIG WIDE DISUSED road near where her parents live.........

My legs are beginning to shake already!!!

I'm quite happy for by better half to drive mine, so long as I don't have to be in the car as well!

When she takes it out for a drive at weekends, I stand at the front window, "curtain twitching" and looking at my watch ... then go around it to check for scratches

Of course when you read this Scooby Su, it's only a bit of fun dear!

My missus hates driving my '02. Having said that she's only ever driven it once (why the hell I put her on the insurance, I don't know). Here are a few of her comments in her only 2 mile drive in it :

'I can't see over that stupid lump in the bonnet'

'When the rev needle gets to 3 it carries me away'

'The brakes are too good'

etc. etc. I'm currently trying to find her a 1.0 VW Polo

I let my old, learner driver, girl friend drive my old scoob. I shall never ever let it happen again, thankfuly she never hit anything but it was very close a few times. I have learned from that NEVER to let a learner driver drive my car and that includes the good looking ones, JUST DONT DO IT.

i would let richard drive the 106 but he has to drive it round an airfield first, through some cones to simulate the welsh lanes, i mean 250bhp 4 wheel drive at 30 mph round the m25 is abit different to 120bhp FWD at (speed not specified) round single track lanes!

I would take one very special BJ for me Karen to be let loose in my Scoob. Once thats completed see will have to find the money to pay for her to be a named driver on my Insurance. She's 21 with 3 months driving under her belt.
Once all this has been sorted she will be supplied with a gentle pat on the bum with the words "DREAM ON SUCKER"

I let both my mum and girlfriend drive my previous car, a Lotus Carlton, without any worries - it was great seeing guys faces when they get humped on the road by a bird.

Let them drive my STI as well. No big deal.

Cool

Not saying women are bad drivers, but unless they use a powerful car very regularly accidents can and do happen !
Oh for goodness sake that goes for ANY gender of friggin' driver.

Nice come back Mel.....

He he - well said Mel! What's your answer to that then Rich?

Re my other half driving the scoob; no problem.

She loves driving it, especially when some twerp sees a little blonde in a decent car and thinks to himself "I'll blow her away at the lights!" Wrong! Her dad used to work for Vauxhall both here and in the States so she grew up driving all sorts of beasts that he used to bring home - including things like Lotus Esprit Turbo and Lotus Carlton.

Mind you, most times she only trundles up to the stables in it & it comes back filthy - must get her a power washer for her birthday!

Cheers,
Steve

My good lady can drive my car as often as she wants (even round the 'ring and on trackdays), if she crashes it, then she does not drive it again....simple.

I cannot believe you don't let your GF's drive, I mean a Subaru is a piece of **** to drive, my granny could drive one fast.

I'm in the same boat as PCdude earlier on in the thread but I'm sure she'll get over it and as usual say it's my turn to drive. Not sure it's a mid life crisis though, just an itch I need to scratch!
