Well I dont find it loud at all but maybe thats cos Ive got used to it over the last 4 months or so since I got it put on my scoob. My girlfriend can hear me coming off the A14 which is quite a way from my house.
Last night I set my housemates golf V6 car alarm off just by reversing out of the drive at around 1,500 to 2,000 rpm.
The best is going into the Grafton Multi-story car park in Cambridge. Full revs in first and it is well loud. Often set several car alarms off (in particular a Ford Mustang that is always parked in the same place) .
People who sit in the back have problems hearing what people in the front say. The rear view mirror vibrates a bit which may annoy you. Also if u have kids or regularly drive someone who gets car sick easily then I would suggest not to get it.
The best idea is to put out a call to local scoob owners who live in Kent and who only have a Blitz backbox and get them to take you for a spin - try a post in General and Im sure you will get a response. Like I say I am more than willing to do this but its a bit of a trek for you seeing as loads of people on SN have this exhaust.
Simon.

Mine is quite quiet on tickover and low revs but gets a lot noisier higher up the rev range.
When the bungs out though it is noisy all the time gets quite annoying to be honest especially motorway driving!

Right, convinced me not to bother with one of these now
I'm after releasing the flat-4 burble, so odds are now on either a Scoobymania 3" backbox, or an Afterburner, both of which so I'm told will give me the noise I'm after

Anyone know if this Afterburner has a "decent" finish, i.e is it polished or is is that dull kinda aluminium finish?
I'm hijaking my own thread

I cannot comment on how loud a normalish dp and centre will be like with a Nur back box, but I can comment on just how fruity a fully done nur spec system is.
I have had a nur spec-r system on both of my scoobs and decatted both. With the current scoob, I went whole-hog and got a Scoobysport downpipe with the full 3" exit. I had the standard Scoobysport Downpipe with the 2.5 taper at the end on the first scoob and was never happy with the mismatched join.
The 3" taper made my nur spec r about half as loud again compared to the normal Scoobysport dp. She is truly, truly brutal on the ears. Sometimes you grin from ear to ear, sometimes it is pain in the ***. Just sounds raw.
I don't think Pete has really gone for a spin in the current steed, but he has a vague idea of how loud she is. The loudest scoob I have come across. I have to agree on the bung tho, looks completely and utterly gay to me, wish I could bring myself to use it, but not seen a day of use in the 2 years that I have had my scoobs.
IMO, those scoobs in the Banzai clips sound tame compared with my girl, scary.
Sorry, novel over
Cheers,
Nick.

Afterburner all the way mate If you want the flat four note then go for it.
I had a scoobysport which was loud but the afterburner has a little more throat to it.
Ohh forgot to say it pops and bangs like mad

Cheers but it's not the same kind of finish as the HKS back boxes is it?
What I'm trying to say is, the dull type aluminum that comes up nice and shiney with some autosol or similar and elbow grease isn't the same shiney that the HKS/Blitz exhausts are...
Dunno if i'm making sense!

Hmmm, I know what Mega means...
The Afterburner, albeit will come up shiny with a good polish, it doesnt seem have the almost 'mirror' effect of the Blitz, HKS even ScoobySport products....

That's it Mark, some finishes kinda go dull after they have been exposed to the atmosphere, the HKS I've got stays shiny all the time, more of a tin like finish.

Pictures dont do a product justice, the Afterburner and Blitz finish is the same. (Ill send you one to prove it!!)
Both are made of High grade stainless steel (304).
And if your making a comparison to the Scoobysport exhaust that will all depend which system you mean! (cos the first one was made by Hayward and Scott!)
I personally like both systems for look and sound and its always a tough choice to make!

Quote from Wendy...
Hehe...
I know what you mean!
Im still torn between your Afterburner and the ScoobySport!
I think I prefer the sound of the ScoobySport (more rally sounding) but the tailpipe doesnt look as meaty as the Afterburner (I also like the option of the slashcut...)
Oh decisions, decisions....

I was looking at getting a Firestorm, IMH the bracket looks like something out a mechano set though, that's what put me off.
Would be better if it had the proper bracket tucked out the way I think.

I'm sure i've said it before and will no doubt say it again
Japanese exhausts (hks, blitz, trust, apexi etc) are all finishsed to a standard much higher than european counterparts.
Couple of things to bear in mind mega, only the full nur spec comes with a bung for those early am coming home trips when the wifes asleep and the centre section supplied with it doesnt have much of a resonator.
You could just buy a back box, but you won't get the bung and you would have to get the magnex centre section with a larger resonator but just placing them side-by-side will show you why the blitz costs more.
The hks hiper exits at an angle so that it retains the straightest route out of the car, the blitz has a bend behind the back box in order to come out straight, read into that what you will.
Either way, give me a shout and i'll look after you mega
Forgot to mention, the hks have a strange mix of metals which give them a slightly gold colouring, whereas the blitz buffs up lovely as can be seen above
