Best Brandy/Whiskey Under £50
I'd agree on the old Bunnahabhain. Lovely peaty Islay malt. I can always taste it the following morning too!! Have to say though there's a bit of whisky "snobbery" on the go here with this water ice stuff. I never drink it with either myself but i dont have a massive issue if it makes having a wee dram of the creature more enjoyable to the partaker. Anyway What are we doing talking about drink on the Lords day its a sin.
Father Jack I bow to your knowledge, I am also a lover of the single malt.....
If you are buying a single malt (laphroag, lagavulin etc...) then be very sure of his tastes... i.e. is he a regular whiskey drinker, or not.... if not then best to stick to a lowland/highland malt, the island/ islay ones do have a very "aquired" taste (fortunately I have aquired it).
If you are unsure then go with a brandy, a little more smooth and more people prefer it if they do not drink regularly.
A lot of people have given good ideas, but if he [Vinesh's dad]hates certain spirits then getting a stronger/more aquired version is not going to make him suddenly like them.

I just recently savoured some Knockando 25 year old. Cost about 60 Euros so it's in the price range...very nice, very smooth and a lovely taste. I'd not hesitate to recommend it.
I might even pick up a bottle as my own Xmas pressie, from me, to me
