OMG Petrol head I don't know where to begin with that question.

I'll leave that for someone else to answer
, But I will saythe STi is 50 bhp more than a standard UK300 ( Non PPP version ) and its got a 6 speed gearbox.
Anyone else care to elaborate ??

yep,us UK300 owners where well and truely shafted.
Main differences, in addition to the extra BHP (mines about 248-250 with the prodrive pack, so about 20 bhp against a standard STI, but the extra BHP does make some difference), the overall driving experience in a STI is far better. More pointable and tighter steering, better torque from low down and feels a whole lot responsive. Test drove one just after they came out, but could not justify the loss within 6 months of motoring (6.5K, ouch). The STI must be even far more awesome with the PPP.

disgruntled with subaru, but still happy with the 300
