I can confirm that there are No price reductions in the STi at present!
Obviously as a Dealer Im sure I can come up with an attractive price for any of you guys to swop, (subject to finding any of the remaining cars left!!) but there are no official price reductions on the Sti, Basically there isnt enough Sti's left for SUK to be concerned about shifting them!

i can tell you guy's that i have been desperately looking to give my cash to some one for a nice new sti type uk but as beech boy say's there are none left at IM only some at dealerships which are not being discounted heavily.
i have chosen the virgin option at £22495 so i hopefully will have helped some of the depreciation.
i was wondering though if anyone on here has purchased a sti from virgin and how the experience was?

Have been out of the country, so coming into this one a bit late.

I read something about the price cut and thought "cool!" then thought "hmm, IM is going to get a major slagging for this though"

Why cool? Well, because it means, if I wanted, I could get a MY02 for a lot less than I could have a few weeks ago and this is a good thing to me. However, If I was getting an 02 then it'd be a STi Type UK or STi + PPP and I doubt very much the discount applies to the STi, so it's really a moot point.

Why hmm? well, most 01 and 02 owners will be seething, especially if they have just purchased. Not only does this cut instantly effect used values on 01/02 cars, but it narks of the 'just purchased' owners in a massive way. Hell, I'd be bashing my local dealers head against a wall if I'd just purchased a new car.

Oh, and another bad point about the price cut, more new age owners who won't wave! sorry, had to say it

I've also just come back into the country after being away for two weeks. I must say I'm mighty shocked to be reading the just of these threads which seems to indicate there has been a fair reduction in the price of new Imprezas.

I will be on the phone to my dealer first thing tomorrow to confirm the exact details as I bought a new STI type UK on a 52 plate at the beginning of September. Originally, I was going to wait to see the MY03 especially due to the fact that I really wanted an STI prodrive & there were no unregistered ones left. However, the dealer I eventually bought from did a good PR job & assured me that there was going to be very little change to the car & that there would be no limited edition or Prodrive versions including STI badged models for at least 6-9 months.

Nobody likes to throw money away & those of you comparing this to a supermarket putting special offers on beans are a wee bit off point. There is a big difference between a few pence & £3K to £3.5K!!!!!

I haven't read every post & all the threads on this yet but no-one seems to have thought of the effect this may have on insurance settlements in the unfortunate event that your car is written off. This potentially could leave you with a fairly large chunk of shortfall on settlement V's outstanding finance for example.

I sympathise with the poor guy who has been trying to rally some form of united front on this to present to IM (Subaru UK). Once I have found out more facts on this I'll probably be joining him in contacting IM for some form of response!

Big Den

I can assure you that this wont make a jot of difference to Insurance settlements as the price reduction is a temporary "special offer", and not a permanent price reduction. (business users P11D values are still £21K ish)

STi Models are not included in this special offer, so worry not on the Depreciation aspect of your scooby.

Hope this helps sort some of your concerns out!

Cheers!

Thanks for that reassurance Beech Boy. Also spoke to my dealer today & they said almost exactly what you have said. Apparently there are no more STI's left unregistered anyway (Prodrive or standard).

Suppose I would really be wasting my time writing to IM (Subaru UK) based on this information.

Sorry about this but I'm still looking forward to the arrival of my bug eyed WRX. £16600 paid. I bought it because I wanted to drive a performance car which I've liked for years. I never saw it as an investment. BTW the tax disc arrived in the post yesterday- can't be long now...

You pay your money, you takes your choice.

If the price drops immediately after purchase then tough imo.

I know owners may dislike this question, but will the 2003 affect values of 2nd hand cars? OK, yes, I know values will go down, but perhaps it is expected that the bug eye will drop quicker than normal?

I got in touch with Gatwick Subaru, and they told me they weren't planning to drop the price of their 2nd hand cars, which is wierd as some are price around the 16-17k mark.

Some unanswered questions:

1. How many old shape cars have Subaru UK got left to sell ?.

If its only 100 off this shouldnt hit residuals.

2. Has anyone found out if Subaru UK's buy price has been reduced to help Fuji clear out stocks worldwide ?

If so would owners prefer IM kept the prices the same and made more profit ?

I work in distribution, just as IM do. If my manufacturer reduces my buy price/landed cost then I will pass that saving on.

I think Subaru may have upset a few customers but seems to me on the whole there are some bargains to be had.
