Cool

A good day out. Thanks to Darren for organising!
A few long faces (including mine!) when reality shattered hopes! Still, Ray was a happy man? How can a part exhaust and air filter change and almost standard boost give that power? (I swear I saw a 20 quid note change hands just before his run!) And as for the evil so and so who put the snail on Marks dash!!!!!!
I'm thinking about how to get the Link re-mapped to correct the on -boost overfuelling and Chris is outside washing his car! (no change there then!)

chris' car was already by far the cleanest there! He's mental! I've finally had the chance to clean mine so it looks all nive and lovely again now.

I too was amazed by how high Ray's run was. And how low some were! Strange goings on...

Still very good day out, i felt. My torque starts to drop off after it peaks at just over 3k, so they suggested to take the cats out and maybe put an induction kit in to free up the breathing so it level's off rather than drops off.

Big up to Dal again 4 organising this, was a good day and finished nicely with a couple of pints )

It was very surprising too see the r/r results coming in

Ray @ 270bhp with de-cat centre and b/b and air filter
Paul-S @ 251bhp with full decat hks and air filter
mine @ 170bhp with full decat hks and air filter then an extra 45bhp increase to 215bhp when they put bonnet down!!!!! (STRANGE)

Snail, yes, i seemed to have this snail following me about attacking my camera and eventually sliming across my dash, CHEERS DAL!! the $hit wont come off i'll send u the valeting bill m8

Mark, sorry Mate, it had to be done. Not a pun intended on the way your car performed, just a laugh!!!
I have spoken to a few places since Saturday as the figues were somewhat low for some and high for others. We even saw an Increase of 20BHP with 2 bottles of Booster! Work that out?
There are a number of factors in getting the results i have been told.
1) Tempreture must be kept the same. ans: It was @ 18d all day!
2) Weight: This plays a factor in a rolling road session. The lighter the car the more down force is needed.
3) Tyre pressures: To high and they can spin, to low and its a low reading!
4) Cooling: The car must be kept cool at all times. (Hence bonnet down)

I could go on, but it seems that the figues done on the day WERE rather optamistic! John running 205 on the first run? Mark running 185? Cannot be right, although new age run what they should (Weight perhaps?)
I, same as John, have run the car before as standard, and i have lost 72bhp!!! Although, Torque @ 295 iblt.
I will look into this and run my car again at another place and let you all know.
Good day though and a good atmosphere. Cheers Guys!!!

As on thread in genral, Tony owes £7.50 and i have included a story from this day to be put in with Brands in Jap. Performance mag.
Bad results are not un-heard of. Ive been recommended Abbey motorsport!
Ill see if they come back to me when issue comes out.

Dal,
I haven't forgot that I owe you, do you want me to send you a kite.

I have been onto Wilsons re low BHP readout. They think it could be an overboosting problem and will have a look at service next month.

On the subject of Wilsons they have offered me a trackday at Rockingham on Thursday, driving Imprezas, Foresters, and passenger laps etc. Unfortunately I don,t think I can get the time off work. Gutted.

Overboosting? If it was you would experaince fuel cut Tony. I have a spare Restrictor here for you if you wish to try it. Sometimes they move in the pipe, hence low boost, no boost, or overboost!
Perhaps we can meet at some point and try if you like! Worth a try.

Dal,
I will take your word on that as I am actually clueless on modern engines (bring back the Cortina). Might well take you up on that offer. I could pay you that what I owe as well.

Tony

By changing the restrictor would I be able to notice any improvement in normal driving or would I have to take it back to a RR?

We can fit it and only try. If it does make a difference then you should notice it! Did TDI say what boost you are running?

The boost got up to 0.9 then dropped to 0.6 then up to 0.85 then back down to 0.6.

Probably means more to you than to me.

Unhappy

Its always good to see EDUCATED technical advice given to the newbies on this BBS
A word of advice. Discuss issues such as you are experiencing with a qualified Subaru mechanic or at least an individual that has a fundamental grasp of vacuum closed loop boost control.
Happy modding, but always get a second opinion from a well ESTABLISHED Subaru specialist.

Angry

OH look everyone! Another tosser hyjacking Threads. He also has to change his name to put his comments in!
People like you Hustler really get on my nearves. I would suggest that before you comment on threads to think twice.
Firstly: Know the facts.
Secondly: Dont comment to those that are MORE in the know than you will EVER be!
3 Technicains (2 Subaru trained) have not yet seen this car to find out what the REAL problem is and have only given advice as to what it MAY be. So, go an hyjac another thread where you belong and i can suggest the Muppet Show to begin with. More your style.
Tosser.
