Well, haven't posted for a while but I have been lurking in the background!
I have to say I really like the new shape and will probably get myself one when finances allow. Having seen the videos of the cars doing the rounds I have to say that the front finally matches the aggressive appeal of the rear.
I'm not entirely sure why Subaru added the afterburner style circle to the rear lights. If it isn't broke...

I know I'm in the minority here but what's all the fuss about??? I think people are going a little OTT here.
Problem with bug eye is front lights (which are easily and now quite cheaply changed) and the crap rear spoiler.
I'm not that smitten with the new lights, not a big fan of the lexus style rear lights and the crap spoiler is still there.....
.............any yes, you guessed it, I own a MY01
But now I've got Prodrive headlights and a Rallytech rear spoiler I must say I'm really not that bothered about the MY03 at all.
All IMHO of course

I think it is a massive improvement over the standard MY01. I did own one of these but had the morrette light conversion because I couldn't handle the bug eyed look no matter how hard I tried!
I think the lights both ends look quite classy.....it looks a more sophisticated car than the previous generation models. The Sti sccop is the dogs danglies and I prefer the STi interior....unfortunately I don't think my bank manager is Sti friendly! :-) Would the Sti steering wheel be an option on the WRX do ya think ?
I could be tempted into buying the WRX again......although there are some other fantastic cars I gotta try...Golf R32,Focus RS, S2000, Leon Cupra-R

I have to say that the looks have never bothered me that much.
The real issue for me is that as with my MY00 I only want to part with my cash every 2-3yrs not feel like I've missed out in terms of the ability of the car by not waiting to change up until the next model year. Subaru are one of the few manufacturers to listen to the comments of owners and independent experts like Prodrive in the redesign of model incarnations. This is why the very good MY97 car evolved into the excellent MY99/00. Many of the perceived shortfalls of the older car were sorted on the later model. I think the few small changes mechanically and to the chassis/suspension etc are far more significant than the look of the front end etc.
I think the MY03 is def. progress for Subaru and the continuing evolution of the Impreza. I would think that regardless of appearence the MY04 will be even better and I reckon that'll be the car that will persuade me to spend £10k+ on top of my modded MY00.
Until then I guess I'll just have to live with the fact that there will be some outstanding new-age cars on the road and I won't be in one of them. Plenty of time though.
