Bought mine last Thursday, missed postie on Friday, picked it up Saturday.

Got a phone call from the mother-in-law on Sunday night to say, "be careful if you go to Brid, they had the speed trap outside the cafe again today" (she works in a cafe on the main drag to Bridlington from the M62).

My reply, "I know, detector went off about 500yards before"

Going to Windsor for a 3 days next week, should give me ample opertunity to try it out.

Question

What's the situation with detectors being banned?

I know it was on/off/on/off etc a while back.

ChrisB

I understood this to be resolved via a high court ruling in 98 or 99. It was found that these devices were legal to buy, own and use.

However a friend of mine mentioned today that the police could potentially take the view that it was a device for avoiding prosecution while committing an offence. Well if we are are to stop using things that stop us getting caught while committing an offence then they will have to ban our eyes and brain!!!!!

I am getting one and I intend to stash it or turn it off when/if I get pulled just to be safe. The last thing you need is a copper getting the hump. Happened to me once, walked away with more bits of paper than I did when I graduated........

I remember that bit Gaz - they were thought be illegal under the Wireless blah blah Act.

There was a specific thing being squeezed through the back door to specifically ban radar dectectors. Just wondering where that got too.

Drive,

I asked because my friend from this bbs also ordered 2, one for himself and one for me. It was easier for the detectors to be sent to his place and then he bring my one to me since he was coming here for a holiday. He got asked funny questions when he ordered two and since you also ordered two I thought I'd do the same.

Cheers,
WREXY.

Question

I've got a BEL990 International. What worries me is that I've driven past a "saftey camera van" which had the bloke sitting there behind his camera and I didn't hear a peep out of the bloody thing.

The only radar/IR mine seems to detect is the automatic door openners on petrol station forecourts!

Matt,

Have you set the correct frequencies for the UK. Maybe the frequency that picks up that type of camera is turned off.
