Something I wanted to ask you was i`ve noticed on other threads you colour coded you dash on your last motor. How hard was it to do cause although i`ve done it on other cars using a manual to dismantle this is my first scoob and haven`t got a clue where to start.Got any tips, advice or instruction you could give me.

Eddie,
The one i did was a 96UK turbo. I can give you detailed instructions on how to do the dash and heater surrounds on that MY
But im afraid i dont know where to start with a MY 2000
I can tell you how i did the spraying bit though
After i got all the bits off the first thing i did was to lightly rub down all the surfaces to be sprayed with 600 grade sandpaper.
Incidentally i got all the stuff from A1 motorists centre on Abbyedale Road. Some undercoat suitable for plastic surfaces and some aluminium spray paint. They are made by Hycote.
Anyway... i then applied 2 coats of the undercoat, leaving 20 mins between and left it to dry for 24 hrs.
Next is the Alu paint, i put about 3 coats of this on all the plastic bits. I found the trick here is to be patient. If you try to apply too much it will run on the plastic surfaces and look poo. Again i left 20 mins between coats, then another 24 hrs to harden.
Finally the laquer, same again, dont try to apply too much at a time. Also, let it dry naturally. I put the central heater surround on the radiator and the laquer thinned and sort of splodged on the surface
I think some of the others have done a MY200, did you look in the interior forum?
How did we get from Yorkshire scoobys to painting dash surrounds?

No, i dont mind you asking at all mate
Ahhh, i thought yours was a MY2000.
Im no expert on interiors and models, do you know if its the same as the 96? if so i can help you out there
I cant say i have ever been down to Sheffield Subaru centre, i have seen the outside...well the sign for it. But never been in the place. I use a local garage near work (Chesterfield) they are reasonably priced and always do a good job.
Let us know about the interior
cheers
Chris

Cheers Chris, sorry for being a pain in the **** but it`s my first scoob and don`t want to make a pigs ear of it(it`s getting more love than the misses at the moment). As for the dash, from what I can gather it`s virtually the same principle as the MY96 apart from the center heater console, which i`ve heard is a bit of a bitch, but i`ll suss something out with that,it`s just that I dont want to start pulling at bits of trim thinking they`re clipped in when they`re actually screwed and break something,so it`s screw positions I was after.
