GRC.com is well respected, though if you are really paranoid then *buy* your firewall - at least you have the sale of good act (or whatever) on your side.
Ask for the Probes and Leaks - try it because at least GRC are open about things. Better than a site silently hacking aways at your PC!

Shark, I have used zonealarm on my PC for nearly a year and am well pleased with the protecting it gives. I have a cable modem and a netgear rt311 router as well, that also has a firewall.
You really need to protect yourself from the EVIL people on the internet.
I TRUST THESE SITES!! And I don't work or have any interest in the business, just know about the dangers out there.
Scoobynet is up and down like a yo yo at the moment. Let me tell you it's not there fault. Reason for me taking so long to reply.
Infact the whole WWW seems ****ed tonight
Hope this helps Phill C

Funny you should say that about the whole of the web tonight, I've been booted 3 times and been having loads of problems all night. Is it just me or is something spooky going on out there in cyberspace???

A IP person could explain this better than me, but it's no real drama for you and me.
The WWW might grind to a halt whilst this virus is being dealt with!! But by tomorrow this will be sorted out no doubt.
This Virus just plays with websites changing pages around, don't think that they are interested in Scoobynet as said before No need to cancel your CC.
Hope this helps, Phill C
PS cuse my grammer, got my blackthorn goggles on lol

This little worm attacks the server, not your pc, so no real need to go scanning your pc for viruses! However, installing a firewall such as ZoneAlarm (URL above) is well reccomended!

Puff, best thing to do is to apply the patch below if you're running Microsoft Index Server 2.0 or Indexing Service in Windows 2000, applying this patch and rebooting takes care of this 'Worm' and will stop any other script kidiots from using the exploit again.

Andy, that's illegal. Think about someone giving away the keys to your car. Zone Alarm is free for personal use anyway, why use a cracked version that could contain a backdoor trojan.

Avi, that's a bit dumb - edit your post to remove the link, as Scoobynet cannot afford to be associated with this.
Get the free version of ZoneAlarm - it's fine for personal, non-business use.

How do you define non-business use? What if I install it on my laptop at work? I assume this is classes as business?

A few months back after checking with SdB, a few of us started working on a security guide for people with PCs on the Internet that aren't, erm, IT wizards (trying to put it politely! ).
Still lots of work to be done on it (not enough hours in the day etc) but here's a link which might explain some of the terms and things discussed above.

He had (it's not there any more) a link to a "pirated" version of ZoneAlarm, which was pointless, considering it's free for non-business users. The risk is that it's not the original version and has been been hacked about.
