These days most people who own a 22b (me included) do so "because they want one" not beacause its better than XXXXXXXX. No matter what you drive there will always be something better

The days of owning one because its the latest thing to have are long gone

However, if you are concerned about the price of spare parts and prefer to sleep easy at night get a P1 not a 22b. Its only when you need spares you find out how different a 22b is to ANY other Subaru in many areas

Adam - I don't know what Daz is charging for the carbon front bumper but the latest quote from Subaru for the OEM item is £2,800.00 + VAT

Rocket spot on mate a lot of people had them because it was latest toy on the market a bit like people who want the latest MY some are genuine fans others are just sheep and fashion victims .

To some degree that why I havent swapped my RA, its stupidly quick and in sonic blue and fullyt loaded and as a limited edition JDM there are even less of them over here which makes it a bit different. Sure I could buy quicker, newer, but not seen anything I fancy that cries out "BUY ME" including an EVO7 and STI7

I dont think people realized you could sell a 22B and buy 2 brand new WRX euro imports with the money .

Says something about the desirability that they have lost so little in depreciation

I had a P1. Would have swapped it for a 22B any day.

Performance wise there's not a lot in it. The 22B's a much more special car and it doesn't depreciate like hell!

Wilf

where you get your insurance for £500?

I got all full claims etc etc, nearly 30 and cheapest i can get is £1000

Back to the thread, id prefer a 22b over a P1 because of the exclusivity, nothing else. On paper i believe the P1 is quicker sprinting and top end. Point to point the P1 would probably beat it, ive heard the clutch is a bitch on a 22b. On top of that id be worried if the engine went in a big way, that id have a car with no engine at all since there were very limited numbers of 2.2 engines made (are they still making them? i heard they had none in stock). Since the 22b is out of warranty now thats a big issue. Theres loads of 2 litre lumps around and they arent cheap, i can only assume that the 2.2 would be a small fortune.

so to summise unless i had gold bars under the bed id go for a P1. Tileys had a 22b for £30k ish, they wanted my car plus £12 grand for it, needless to say i declined, is it still there, some1 on here reckoned they went to see it and it was a shed.

Another reason to go for a 22B Type UK. It has full UK dealer suport and getting parts for it from Japan is not an issue as STi can supply without hesitation. Thats an advantage the Type UK has over the Jap spec. You can also buy the extended 2 year waranty, just like any other UK spec Impreza. If thats important to you that is.

Cool

22b of course, but then I am biased. The 22b is just a totally different car to the P1 due to its setup/diffs/track etc. Its more exclusive, holds its value better and looks stunning. There are enough specialsts out there, that I don't see running the car for the long term as a problem to repair if anything major goes wrong. It may cost a little more, but I'm sure running a classic Roller/jag/ferrari etc ain't cheap either and they always seem to be able to keep them running.
A P1 is a car you would buy to run every day and then get the 22b out at weekends to remind yourself how much more fun it is.

No brainer for me, if they were all closely priced I'd go 22B then P1 then Sti V5.

But in the real world I would not have to spend more than 10 secs decding that an imported Sti V5 is easily the best value.

If I had 30K I wouldn't buy a 22B, I'd buy a Skyline R34 GTR.
Sti V5 4 door is my fave when price is factored into the equation..
My 2 cents worth.

I agree with Rocket entirely, chances are whatever car you get there will always be something better, I saw the P1 and decided I wanted it.... I don't regret buying it (Despite the engine giving up after 3 and a half months....

Seems everyone is very quick to slate a car they have never owned or driven. Accepted everyone is entitled to an opinion just find it amusing how many people hate being different...

I would love a 22B but finances don't allow...
