Just do it.

you know it makes sense.

You will need

1/2" drive 19mm socket
long breaker bar
19mm ring spanner
wd40
hacksaw (to slot the brake line holder on strut)
10mm socket for top mount
17mm socket for topmount/spring cup nut.

If you can jack and axle stand one end at a time, probably take you 4 hours to do the lot, could be quicker if you have no rusted nuts etc.

I did mine a while ago myself (no help) and was much easier with 2foot breaker bar.

Once ride height is sorted, test drive, then get the lot aligned.

NO idea.

Best thing to do to set, is put all 4 courners on, roll/drive car forward and backwards a few feet to release any side tension in tyres and measure ride height. (check graham goode site for standard heights)

If you want to adjust, jack car* again move the spring collar about 3/4 of the amount you wish to adjust (due to leverage), and repeat the roll and measure.

Once happy, I personally would drive it a few miles to make sure, as you may wish to adjust again.

Get it aligned once you are happy, better (than standard) alignment brings benefits in handling as well.

*Jack under rear diff, and under plate just behind sump at front.

well mine is fitted

it took a lot of banging my head against the wall and a few phonecalls but it is done

not that i am an expert but two tips

1) from the centre of the wheel to the top of the wheel arch is 340mm

2)i will try to explain this but at the top of the strut were the 2 locking nuts tighten onto the existing top bitty (no idea what it is called but it is on top of the original strut and has to be taken off and fitted to the new one) you need to fit a large washer becouse the locking nuts dont tighten onto the top bitty but onto the end of the threads on the strut thus causing them to have around 1mm of slackand thus causing them to rattle

this did my head in but anyone fitting there own i hope this helps

oh by the way havn`t tested them but am surprised that they are not as uncomfortable as i thought they would be

Me and Patrick have fitted ours also now.
But one of my setting for one front shock was hard as hell
to adjust...had to use a spanner.
Impossible with the supplied adjuster...is that shock really ok ??
And I could see a small amount of oil on the bump adjustment..

Will check it after some driving...

it was front and rear was told by avo that this must be unique to the my00 but i doubt that

you should be able to tell if when tightening the strut to the fixing plate there is movement of any kind then a washer is required i used a 16mm washer

Yeah, sorry I haven't spoken to them.

It seems a few have had this problem, so I was thinking of persuading AVO to send out some replacement spacers.

I assume this is all because the spacers are too short, to the tune of about 1.5mm?

paul just found out there are different spring rates for the springs you dont know what rates are for each end becouse i have a funny fealing you know wrong way round

i cant beleive it did not mention this in the kit

i suppose they think experts are going to be fitting them

but then experts need to know spring rates etc..

X SCOOBY,

I imagine the harder springs will be on the front, you should be able to pick out the harder springs, as they will have thicker wire used for the coils, possibly have the coils on a bigger pitch.

These are the Issues that seem to be cropping up.

Spacers between top mounts and spring tops too short, nut bottoms on thread and doesn't tighten properly.

Damping adjustment can be stupid tight

No Spring/shock identificaion

I didn't see any brake hose brackets either.

I'll try and speak to AVO today.

Paul
