I now have build 927 of ut2003, initially thanks to a certain unnamed member on here 'cough, Dom' helping me along with a site. Now before you all bother Dom for this site, I can assure you that the links are and were dead. After some newsgroup trawling, I got together edonkey2000, edonkeybot and www.sharereactor.com and got hold of exactly what I wanted after about 18 hours of downloading.

Anyways.......

My rig:
Intel P4 2.2a Ghz (Was/am a die hard AMD fan, but after my XP1900, I finally jumped ship) (Supercooled 3g+ from next week, http://www.blargoc.co.uk/reviews/prometeia/ )
Epox 4g4a+ Mobo
2x256MB DDR333 Crucial Ram currently running @266CAS2 Turbo due to current CPU Clock.
Leadtek A250 Gf4 ti 4600 Graphics
SB Audigy
Iiyama VM Pro 512 22" Monitor


My basic observations with this game, performance-wise:

1024x768x32bit @ 85Hz
video and detail settings maxed out, v-sync disabled.

Absolutey fine, Zero lag, looks lurvely, but does look a little pants occasionally on objects without vsync when panning quickly.


1280x1024x32bit @ 85Hz
video and detail settings maxed out, v-sync disabled.

I start to experience the slight choppiness that Pete was talking about. Playable, but a little cack, slight slowdown when bots/ action come onto the screen.


1600x1200x32bit @ 85H
video and detail settings maxed out, v-sync disabled.

OMG!! Lag city. I now experience the stuf that Pete was really going on about! Horrendous stops when moving/ panning around. Literally freezes for 0.25-1second when these pop up there ugly head. Completely unplayable


For those of you that have it, but don't know about the hidden levels etc, here you go:

in the game hit the Tab key to open the system console and put the following in 1 at a time.

first type "open" without the qmarks and then put in any of the following below then hit enter.


Mis:
UT2-Intro.UT2
Endgame.UT2
Fluidsample.UT2

DeathMatch Maps:
DM-phobos2.UT2
DM-serpentine.UT2
DM-survivalguide.UT2 "Looks kewl but incomplete"

CTF Maps:
CTF-Lethargic.UT2
CTF-Slaughterhouse.UT2 "awesome and huge in textures"

BomberRun Maps:
BR-Skyline.UT2 "Looks kewl but incomplete"
BR-Spazzo.UT2


Now, down to the 15 day trial bit....

If you have downloaded something called "Cdilla_LMS_Rewind", do not use it!!! I ran it on mine today to test it, as it had gone to 14 days, so I thought what the hell. It set me to zero days! No more play time . I am not going to bother to go into what I tried to get around it, but let's just say that after half an hour I had tried the funniest things to get around it. There is a special exe available that sort's this.

Please mod's don't delete the bit above , as I know it is a bit tricky talking about, but for us major UT fans, we have been waiting for UT2003 for soooooooo long now and just want to enjoy the demo while they keep repeatedly putting the release date back

Just sharing my info on the subject.

Berserk mode - get adrenaline to 100 and hit forward 4 times....

well I had a mare yesterday with this poorly developed pile of code.

was getting almost unplayable in 800x600 so have resorted to turning off ALL quality settings and it was better though still has the odd moment.

I then at mr footlongs advice checked my nvidia drivers and was quite a few behind, so upgraded and with latest driver and on minimal settings as decribed above its as actaully playable, still has the odd freeze here and there, but its actually good enough to increase some of the settings again.

Still have a few things that i hope they are addressing :-

1. bots - your bots are next to useless and dont seem to be responding to your orders, they also seem to get stuck a lot on maps.
2.bots - opposition bots are pretty damn hard in comparison prooving quite challenging, but more annoyingly the buggers can tell when your about to walk around a corner, ive lost count of the number of times ive died with a flag etc as some bot has lobbed a rocket down an empty corridor as ive been stealthily heading back to base and turned the corner into a rocket.
3. reload - seems to take forever to reload from one wep to another or for flcak or lightning gun etc.
4. game speeds - 1v1 is quite nice and fast, but ctf in comparison is about 30% slower, almost as if moving in slow mo.... am unsure if its due to certain maps or size of maps etc...
5. weps - pretty poor imo, lightning gun is pants, green smeg gun was always pants,
6. landscapes - anyone else noticed that on some levels there may be like a scaffolding bar or something coming diagonally down to the floor with a big gap between it and the wall but you cant actually walk through it...... most annoying.
7. domination and bombing run games are poo, really dont like em.

there were a few more but ive forgetten em lol.
