Pulled by cops - oldest excuse in the book
burr,
those stats are scary... 60,000 known offenders.. 1 in five people.. I know that's a rough area but MY GOD! A tactical nucleur strike is the only cost effective answer to that problem... Are the stats right or did you increase them for effect.. (No offense meant just genuinely interested.)
cheers

The area of Leeds I work (Killingbeck) covers more or less one large council estate.......
Apparently, the area is the largest social-funded housing area outside Eastern Europe.
Recently, there was research which determined the 10 most poverty-stricken or underdeveloped areas in the country. Out of the 10 areas, 5 or 6 were in my area.

I have a lot of respect for the police. As seen by Burrs posts they take a lot of cr&p and have to put up with criminals with more rights than them. I for one would like to think they would be there if I really needed them.
The whole thing needs reform to make it less attractive for petty criminals to offend and reoffend. I dont want to start on tangent about prison reform and 'genuine immigrants' or peaceful gyppos, but.
For a start, the Police themselves should be allowed to sue someone if they are attacked/stabbed etc. at the moment some ****** can start an enquiry if he scuffs his knee, but not if he cuts a policemans head off and sticks it on a railing.
We all want the Police to concetrate on keeping us safe in our homes. But to do that the country needs to stand up to the 'do gooders' and their professional lobyists who 'pay-ve' the way for reform.
Let me ask you, when was the last time you agreed 100% with a political decision on law and order reform.
I always laugh at letters in the press as only the minority seem to write in.

Them: "Nothing to worry about sir, put we've had reports of a couple of these stolen this morning"
Me: "That's pretty impressive seeing as there are only 1,000 of them and most, if not all, will have trackers in them"

happened to me the other week and after the initial WTF are they pulling me I was quite glad that they did and even thanked them for it.
If your car had been stolen and they just happened to pull the guy who knicked it how impressed would you be ?
I've been pulled plenty of times for doing 30 in a 30, just becasue they wanted to give me a hard time so I know it can be irritating.

These kinds of threads are the type that make me think about throwing in the towel and quitting Scoobynet
) you accepted there'd be some flack. 15,000 people make our own little virtual world here. Each of us displaying our predjudices. Elesewhere I've made an almost identical comment to your first one.
Everyone wants car crime stopped, seems not all of us are prepared to tolerate random checks as a means to acheve it. Having been chucked in the cells for nothing more than walking to my car I ought to have a chip on my shoulder. However I never have a problem with a spot checks am always polite and courteous and simply expect the same return.
When my wife was stopped in the Scoob she got out with a big smile and before he spoke told the officer she knew there were a lot of thefts and she was pleased he checking. Bet that shocked him, never asked her to produce and docs though??
No problem with being stopped (if I'm not speeding that is ;-) )
I'd rather the cops checked a few randomly than not.
Like an earlier poster said, unless you're well into your jap cars, and the majority of people (including old bill) are not, then one subaru is gonna look quite like another.
I can well believe a couple had been nicked.
jeez!
