Knocklink is arguably a bit after the event, because by the time it knocks significantly a UK car SHOULD have:

Removed several degrees of timing
Thrown in a load of fuel
Dropped the boost

On a car I mapped with a knocklink it basically sat quietly throughout whilst I saw the ECU taking off timing. However the reverse has been reported by others.

If you have no knock correction facility or are really pushing the limits of safety (arguably a bit daft on pump fuel) then perhaps it would have a role. Just my 2p, but most people buy them, put them on maximum sensitivity and just see noise. Even then I am not reassurred when you see a car retarding big time and the knocklink shows nothing. After all it is just an analogue filter and an op amp.

I suppose it depends on what ECU you are using, but for not much more on the right cars you can have Delta Dash (which I don't sell and make no profit from ).
