Hey Daz - Keep us informed about what the boys in blue come back with. If they don't take criminal damage seriously then I guess they are leaving it up to us to sort out. My offside rear has taken two hits - one looks like a stanley knife job - the other like a point has been pushed into the door - Frigging heartbreaking since the only damage up to that point was minor stone chips and a cracked headlight cover.

Hmmm - ride the bike through London during the week, and join the queues with the Scoob at other times.

Unfortunately sounds like you pissed him off mate - maybe you made it more difficult for him to make progress than it had to be? I get this sometimes, and it is due to unawareness or indifference by car drivers mostly. Seems he interpreted it as spite or mean-spiritdeness on your part & 'taught you a lesson'.

Think I'll approach the 2 wheel screwdriver trick myself since a Vitara driver that called me a Fucxxx cun* the other day deserved it - all I did was toot at him for forcing his way into traffic too close to me after he took a 'bound to end in trouble' short cut in the bus lane. He was SO snarly agressive that he needed to visit a body shop to cool down! Still pissed off about it, and most I shrug off...

Well said Diesel.
I ride a bike to work from Croydon to Weybridge everyday of the week. This has taught me to things:

80% of car drivers dont use their mirrors
Some people will go out of their way to block a bikes path through traffic.

Daz, I'm not suggesting for 1 minute that you are guilty of the above, I'm just saying there is always a flip side.....

I think the bottom line is there are **** holes in cars, on motor bikes, on push bikes, on foot.....

Doing that to your car is unforgivable, I hope you get HIM sorted anyway you can,
Andyp

Riding round with a screwdriver at the ready, he is obviously a major-league a-hole. You were probably lucky he didn't use it on you.
If you've got legal protection on your insurance, I'd give them a ring for advice. Give them the reference number that the police gave you and let them sort it out for you.

Cool

Daz,

A pal of mine has just mentioned that for £10 you can contact DVLA with Reg # and they'll provide you with the details you need.

This seems to go against some of the comments previously made about data protection etc but it might be worth following up !

If it turns out to be correct and you do find out where the sh1tba6 lives please can you be carful not to damage the shine on your hammer head as you perform the Scooby Revenge drum roll on the dickwads nose.

Daz if it makes you feel any better, almost all motorbike riders would get into some kind of accident (happened to me already) once in their lives. And if anything that I've learnt is that Karma is a b1tch. You'll get your come uppence when you least expect it.

So relax, you don't even have to do anything and let Karma wreck vengence on your behalf...

This happened to me no so long back. Someone threw a stone at my car and i saw them do it, causing 300 quids worth of damage to the roof. I went nuts with the police and now have to write a statement so that they can arrest & prosecute.

Daz mate just make enough noise and say you want something done or you'll take the police to court as well for neglegence when you have sufficient evidence (Plate, witnesses etc)to make a case in court. I'm sure you are very angry at the fact the cars damaged and you probably feel its a waste of time, just stick at it and make sure you hassle the poilce about it. If i had my own way i woulda batter'd the w4anker that damaged my car cause he was on foot. Instead i kept my head and thought i'd use other ways. Dont you know any police men/women??

If you e-mail me the plate i can surely find out the addy for you no problem! its not what you know its who you know aint it .

Hope this helps and that you get something sorted

Gav

Received a letter from the Police this morning stating that "unfortunately at this time they will not be able to proceed with the investigations" or something to that effect

To be honest I was halve expecting this, from past experience. It is deemed a minor offence, where as when I found out the adress of this "scumbag" and give him some of my "justice" know doubt the Police will follow up the more serious offence by myself.

You are not Gangstas all of you tough talk typists here! 'Yeah, me and me mate Dyson will slice his bolloxs off with a rusty Strimmer'...

Just put it down to experience and give bikers a bit more breathing space next time - even if you are pissed off with this 'i'll get home way before yoo-hoo' genre that can tap your wing mirrors now and again! I feel it too sometimes!

I do genuinely sympathise with you for this probable over reaction however. Not nice.

You should have told them he was doing 32mph in a 30, they'd have thrown the book at him then

A similar thing happened to me, I got head butted by a taxi driver after he reversed into my car. After straightening my nose, I went to the cop shop to find the guy already there, admitting what he did and the police refused to press charges because he'd owned up.

"he'll lose his job if we prosecute" they said. I wonder if they'll treat me as nicely when I accumulate 12 points for speeding?

So remember kids: attack someones property or person and you'll get away scott free, if you do it often enough maybe you'll earn enough Crime Points for that holiday to Kenya.

Woo, quite a rant, hey?

makes you wonder what you need for the cops to act on it!

A while back it was possible to get details from DVLA by writing to them and saying a vehicle had parked on your private property and you need to send a fine to the owner, or something similar

Diesel - I understand where you're coming from, but wait till it happens to you (damage to your car not wing mirrors). I hope it doesn't by the way

What exactly are we paying the Police for???? I would, before going down the vigalante route, compose a letter of complaint to the Cheif Super of your local Police force, cc'd to your MP and the Police Complaints Commission.

If you state that you will not accept their sloppiness in this manor, to the above bodies, I'm sure they can be convinced to do something. Tell them that if they refuse to investigate, you will do your upmost to publically highlight the failure of the Police to protect Law Abiding citizens from the increasingly criminally dominant element in our society

If you sound serious, they usually do something about it.....

On another note, I too ride a bike and can't believe the lengths cars will go to block you off in a traffic jam Bear this in mind as it's more than likely that this is what he thought you were doing - having said that, brandishing a screwdriver, looks like he was just looking for trouble!!!

I wish you luck, and make sure you make the little to$$er pay, one way or another, sooner or later....

Matt.

Mutant_Matt

A year ago I was on a push bike and some **** in a Mondeo cut me up?!?!?! i wouldn't mind but I was in the gutter as it was and he could have given me room. So I remembered his plate and when he got stuck in the (1.5 mile) roadworks up ahead he ended up loosing his NS wing mirrior courtesy of my foot!

I have become more aware of motorbikes since friends started to ride so always move over and let them past. Cant see why people have such a vendetta against them. If they want to get home quicker why not just buy one?

Unhappy

Try and see if you can take this to the police complaints board or whatever it is, you gave perfectly good evidence and are therefore entitiled to have a case against this person, the police are basically refusing to do this because they cant be ar5ed pulling their fingers out (had this happen to me when i was hit by some a-hole in a mk2 golf gti when i owned my gti-6, 4 weeks later and the guy had repaired his car and denied all knowledge )
Hope you get this git, they should get the book thrown at them for this sort of malicious damage (but probably get a slapped wrist )
