I appear to have a real problem with both cooling fans, which aren't coming on at all. It appears to be a problem without solution on various Subaru forums, but more annoyingly, posters dont update with solutions.
All the fan and ac relays are good and tested. But there is no power at either fan socket. The fans do work on a direct supply.
The thermostat is newish and operates. I get a water temp reading from the obd so am told it's not the temperature sensor ( is this correct, or is there a separate sensor for gauges?
All the wiring appears intact, including under the fuse panel.
Reading various other threads on identical problems, the grounds to the ecu or temp sensor can be an issue, but I'm unsure how to trace this. Any hatch wiring diagrams would be appreciated, as would any suggestions. Previous fixes on other threads seem to be accidental, ie a ground or broken wire has re contacted. I'm hoping The Don may come to the rescue, but I dont mind who it is!

what is the water temp from OBD? - cooling fans only come on automatically at 96.1c if i remember correctly

though with AC on they should come on - assuming your AC works?

Definitely no power to fans, no function at 100°C plus, no ac fan. I've found this is a problem across various Subaru platforms

Usual caveat for JDM - wiring colours may be different
For the Hatch the engine coolant temp sensor is a 2 pin sensor with the guage temp being obtained from the ECU, rather than a dual sensor as per newage.
Hopefully the attached pdf's may be of use.
there are 3 fan relays:-
Main relays 1 & 2
Sub Fan relay

Also attached a copy of the MY09 ECU pinout.
It's the US pdf version which is the same as the UK/European HTML version.

Well, after replacing all the fan relays, the auto electrician quickly found that the fans were dead. I got them replaced from DL Motorsport in Devon, for about the same price as Amayana. The motors were £130 each, but 14 years old so fair play.
DL Motorsport have a really good range of spares for hatches, Inc most panels, Group N parts, and specific spec C parts

I didn't; my nieghbour, an electrical mechanical engineer initially but incorrectly checked them
Then I paid an auto electrician to check them.
I'm not an electrician of any kind.

Prepping some bits for 2k clear coat, before fitting along with the Ti back box.
Then off to Enginetuner for sports cat, tgv delete, oil cooler, gauges, catch can, alignment, and mot
Then fabricator for 3" centre section, fit cold air intake and map tweak.
Hopefully that should be that for a while

Powder coated my brake cylinder stopper in black as the blue didn’t go with anything else. It will be interesting to hear how the car feels after the engine parts have been changed and the map tweaked.

I've got a Cusco blue rack brace down the bottom somewhere, but they rust like Whiteline.....they'll both be a nice brown colour soon!

Dam, I forgot to put the brake stopper in the pile to go up to ET.
New back box is on, needs some different hangers to adjust it. But the sound is absolutely perfect, with no droning at all. Finally got an exhaust that I can live with. Tomei expreme ti and Invidia titan available at bargain prices, also I would take decent offers on my discontinued Sti back box.
New lateral links are on, rear alignment was so bad I thought I hadn't done up the wheel nuts!

Strange they put those manifold on 09 spec C. Is there no engine oil cooler on hatch spec C's?
Back box looks like somebody run over it before fitting.
See rust is a killer even on Yours younger car.

Yep, no oem cooler. Back box probably Chinese, but the sound was finally perfect.
Definitely minor rust issues, mostly due to my exposed location and no garage for seven years. Although it's over a mile to the sea, winter winds rarely drop lower than 30mph, and all exposed surfaces are constantly coated in a layer of salt.
The underneath is under control, but the roof and black door pillars have issues so now saving for that

Id recommend getting yourself one of these for the filter (youll need to find the exact one for your filter dimensions)

https://www.knfilters.co.uk/rc-3680dk-air-filter-wrap

the amount of ****e/road crud that will get stuck to filter down there will scare you

That's precisely why it's sat in a box for 4 years, but sound advice, thank you. Probably rains here as much as over the water too!

I'm having trouble finding the lengths of those socks, and k&n aren't replying. Is that link the sock in your picture, and what is the length of your filter? Cheers

Here's the dyno graph from most recent tweaks. The vf53 can't be squeezed any more, but I'm not interested in top end; I've attempted to maximise spool and response, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes when it returns.

Looks a nice responsive setup, I bet that goes well on the road.

I've had the car back a while, and whilst there's a couple of teething issues that I'm sure the garage will put right, I've got to say that a couple of things have absolutely transformed the car. Firstly the power delivery; the sports cat, intake and tgv delete have totally altered it, far beyond the 13bhp gained. It keeps on pulling further up the rev range, which translates on a twisty road to pure joy mode!!
Secondly. the Ohlins and STI/GrpN work and the rear have really planted the car. Even in the current low temperatures, it feels like way more grip from the summer tyres.
The only negative is that the combined performance increases are highlighting the woeful performance of the brakes; despite being cleaned up and bled, the combo of Brembo plain discs and PFC Z pads are totally wooden. They take an age to get hot and even then have little bite, and on longer dual carriageway trips in rain, basically fail to work if not constantly dabbed to maintain heat. I previously had no such issues with Brembo sport pads , and a mix of Brembo and Scoobyworx discs.
Lastly, if you're deleting tgvs on a MY09 spec C, be aware that you've "probably " got Hawk tgvs and a Hawk manifold, not Hatch ones.

I forgot to say that, as an added bonus, fuel economy has also noticeably improved. Win, win.

I checked the TGV part numbers for mine too ( Revision B ) after you said and they're the same as a few of the earlier models not just the Hawkeye, they fit the Blobeye and Forester too. 2004 to 2008 seems to be the year range for them.
What are the teething issues so far?

I had those PFC pads on my blob for a bit, dangerous when they have not been used for a while, get them off ASAP.
