Agreed. It is near the local football stadium so there can be floods of people walking around when a game starts and finishes guess that's the thinking (lack off) behind it. The best solution would be tunnels or bridges but that would cost too much. Northampton town planning is horrible and they wonder why they have no money. So many u-turns they have made. The knocked down the old bus station from the 70s that was still coping with the load. Then decided to move the new bus station elsewhere. First day it opened the town center was grid locked. People waited in multi story car park exits for over 3 hours. The chief engineer was on holiday the day of opening WTF. Now there saying it was a mistake to relocate it. The design in the 70s was planned very well so why move it just rebuild it. It was ugly I agree but functional over 40 years later, DOH.

The building was listed in a survey carried out by The Guardian for Channel 4's Demolition series, as the third most hated building in Britain[7] and dubbed "the mouth of Hell"

Oh there’s load of roundabouts round here with crossings on the exits; They started popping up in the late 90’s/early 2000’s. During the same era loads of limits were cut, dual carriageways were made single (with zero provision for cyclists), give way left filters at lights and junctions were blocked off, some roundabouts had traffic lights installed ON the roundabouts and lanes markings round multiple lane roundabouts were changed from a spiral pattern which forced traffic on the left off the next exit, to circular patterns which if followed go round and round and round...

The latter marking change caused all sorts of havoc on the big roundabouts just like the punto in the above video. Then the crossings and lights cause grid locks at peak hours, and generally everything went to s**t and as now more people living here working further from home, along with more houses and hence more cars it’s just got worse and worse. The 70’s roads layout would have just about coped, but the changes made in the late 90’s/00’s just killed any chance of getting from A-B quickly in a car or bus at peak hours.

To cap it off the old dual carriagway where I lived 100yards from had sewers/services ran to avoid heavy traffic driving over them, when it was made into single carriagway, it pushed traffic over so it runs over all the manhole covers...of course with constant HGVs this means they sink or become loose and fracture requiring frequent repairs. So then I’m kept awake every night by the Tufnells wagons riding over them all through the night (I know it’s Tuffnells as they mostly use 4X2 rigids towing 4 wheel trailers, so I hear 4 axles hit the loose manholes and 2 sets of roller shutters clatter...yes insomnia means I could count them )

I’ve now moved, and at peak hours can get to work via aincient narrow lanes quicker than I can via the now ruined main trunk roads, partly due to crap changes and ***** not indicating
