You're obviously set on it so good luck with it. I hope it turns out to be a good one for you, it really looks the part in the pictures and its rare to see a white UK car so may be worth taking it on either way. Its last owner had it for a while going by the data on record.
Martin TypeR's story would concern me more than the mileage discrepancy which looks like a plausible typo. The MOT is also due in under a month so bear that in mind if you've not got a friendly tester too.
Good luck.
Thanks mate. The car will be supplied with 12 months MOT along with a full check over in their garage and a full service but only 3 months of warranty so I’m pretty confident but there’s always that trust issue you can never avoid with these garages
I would like to stress that my purchase from them was over 10 years ago and at the time 95% of there stock was indeed impreza's as said by someone above. Who knows what they are like now.
A guy called Neil was the salesman i delt with, that name will always stick in my head as i called him so many times for my "engine build" paperwork

there not the usual Cheshire suspects ......or maybe they are now
No,I can confirm they are not “the usual Cheshire suspects”,they have been around for a long time,as said above they were selling a lot of Impreza’s few years back,I had my previous P1 from there and my current widetrack blob, had the blob 11 years and not had an issue, obviously a 2 litre so the gasket/piston issues not applicable, hopefully for the OP there is no issues
Been reading a lot about this on honest john website.
if there is a fault present in the 1st 6 months then they have to do something about it.
so the 3 months warranty line from them doesn't affect your consumer rights for the 6 months part.

Os it worth the op letting the dealer know hes taking it to a specialist to give it the once over?
I’ve not mentioned anything. They will do what they set out to do but I’ll still take it to a ‘specialist’ What were Subaru playing at with these engines? Such an iconic car plagued with all these issues smh.
Looks a nice example but personally I'd have spent £1k-£2k more and gone for a JDM Hawk STi
Yeah see you what you mean but insurance on an import would have cost more right? My budget was 10k but this one was too good for me to turn down... I mean in person it looked immaculate and drove really well and solid on the test drive
The trouble is with the 2.5 engine, it's a question of when, rather than if, the head gasket is going to go. I wouldn't touch another 2.5 with a bargepole personally.
If your heart is set on this car, you really want to try and get some kind of extended warranty thrown in.

Yeah I’ve been considering a 12 month warranty from the dealership.
It’s a shame really. I already know I’m going to warm it up and down everyday and keep up with the servicing and strictly use v power. Not planning on getting it remapped or anything as well, just keeping her stock and clean. Just praying it treats me well in return.
The dealership did mention however that the head gasket issue had been rectified though...
Most 3rd party warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on imo. Even if the headgaskets been done if it was done to factory spec then chances are eventually it will need doing again (Its when upgraded gaskets / bolts / forged etc that you get a piece of mind).
Having said this the car may be perfectly sound and you will have no issues with it. Its just something to factor in. Everyone will have their own opinions and the most ones you will hear are from the people that had issues with them (if your car is running fine then chances are you won't be on a forum telling everyone how good / reliable your car is).
Just an update. So I bought the car end of May and got it checked at Scooby Clinic. They confirmed it had a hg failure so I sent it back to the dealership who replaced the hg and skimmed the head all for free under warranty.
After checking my oil level now and again I noticed my oil was burning more than it should have and booked it in for a leak down, which confirmed bottom end needed doing. So now it’s due for a rebuild.
Kind enough of sc to let me store it there, while I get funds together and have it done. Hopefully, no more problems once it’s rebuilt.
I’ve been quoted £4-5.5k but depends on inspection.
Absolute scumbags for selling a knackered car, on a positive note mate Kev at scoobyclinic is a top bloke and will look after you. My car was meant to be going there a couple weeks ago but I pulled my back and was off work for 2 weeks so I lost my overtime which is a lot of money. It will be going there in the near future. Can’t wait.
Martin I heard having 3 sti pistons and 1 wrx piston means you can run your car on bubble bath, maybe the reason it was fooked is because you were putting v power in it instead of one of these, you’ve been slagging graham walkers off undeservingly, what has scoobynet become

I just get good vibes at the clinic around the place. All the guys are top and very approachable. Kev just gives me that confidence, knowing it’ll all be sorted.
Quick recovery for you mate! Hopefully all goes well.
