Ah, the blue hose (that was supposed to be black but they obviously ran out!).
it is the vent for the catch can. I used to have a k and n filter on the collector under the bonnet but I kept getting an oil smell so had it re-routed.
The car is back home now. Engine sounds very healthy and I'm booking it in for a map tweak in the next couple of weeks.
The old engine parts are all in pretty good condition still. It was a shame to split the block and find everything okay but I had faith in the garage that diagnosed the bearing failure, next time I'll definitely seek second opinions.
The old engine parts are listed in the sale section, I'll get some decent pictures once I'll had a chance to sort through it. Pretty much everything for a 2.1 forged build though, so hopefully can go towards someone else's project.
Once the car is mapped I'll be giving it a tidy up before listing it for sale. Now I have the RA this just won't get used very much and I'd rather someone else is actually enjoying it after all the money that's been put in to it. It is an insane car and I'm glad to have owned and enjoyed it but it's time to move on...
A friend of mine got a few pictures of the car this weekend in preparation for me advertising it in a couple of weeks time. I will miss this car, of that there is no doubt! It has certainly been a journey but it's time to let someone else enjoy it.
I will be asking strong money for it as the market seems very unpredictable at the moment. Planning of advertising on PH and eBay, anyone have any other suggestions for a car like this?
I really don't have the fortitude to deal with the FB chimps telling me "...it's worth £10k max and that's if you're lucky!" or "...px on my S3 with 4 billion miles, a **** paint job and no history..." so will probably avoid FB this time around.

A couple of those companies contacted me last time I advertised and they all wanted to pay peanuts.
Tbh, I much rather it goes to a proper enthusiast that will really enjoy it and look after it. There's not too many of these low mileage, rust free UK cars around nowadays.
I'm happy to look at taking another scooby in px if that helps to get it in the hands of someone like that, I do understand that not everyone has a massive wedge of cash sitting on the shelf for a car like this.
I'm still in 2 minds about keeping it for myself, especially now the new engine is in! It's just far too nicer a car to be thrashed around a track every other weekend though.
I was going to suggest FB, not on there myself but @domino46 knows his way around it. He could suggest the groups to join and the ones to avoid.
Thanks Nossy and happy to get some input on the groups side. I went through a stage of being in all the groups but there's just so many numpties that I ended up leaving them all.

I hear you mate, the game has changed so much in the last few years.
to be honest with you guys a lot of the ones I sell are done by word of mouth and people waiting for the cars I pick and build for them so they are willing to wait for them ,, Facebook has got better recently with regard to selling decent subarus ,, the market has changed very recently and people are realising that the clean ones are hard to find so will command a higher price ,,, but you still get the numptiies offering you there social money for the next 40 years lol
The car has been in the garage for the last 3 weeks getting a few bits sorted and mapped ready for the new owner to collect next week.
I sent the car to Perfect Touch who use Race Cal (Romain) for mapping. He has good experience with the Syvecs so I felt it was in good hands and if there were any issues then PT could sort them there and then.
So when it first went on the rollers there seemed to be a fueling issue and we couldn't get the car to boost past 1 bar. Romain couldn't pin point what was up and seemed very upset that there wasn't more sensors on the car to help with mapping. To cut a long story short, we agreed to fit a wide band lamda, air charge temp sensor and a Syvecs knock sensor as well as rewiring the fuel pump. The actual issue turned out to be compressed vacuum hose.
When it was back on the dyno again Romain decided on a conservative map running 1.6 bar, he felt this was the sweet spot for this turbo. The car still made over 450bhp (although I'm still waiting for the print out) so it's making the same power just with less boost.
With Gaz collecting the car next week (unless he can't wait that long and comes before ), I decided to give it one last clean before putting the cover over it. I went for the works seeing as it will be last time. I'm still amazed at how clean this car is, it's actually cleaner than my JDM car with less mileage! Not bad for a car that's spent the majority of it's life in South Wales!.
I flip flop between the AG and Meguires products. Both are good but I'm favouring the AG at the moment 2 bucket method of course. First time using the AG foam and it's very good. Decided to give the clay mitt a try, I'll be binning the clay bar moving forward. These mitts are great! I highly recommend this polish. Easy to use and gives a deep shine. Quick break. I usually use a hard wax but was short on time so pulled this out of the box instead. The 18L paint looks amazing in the sun! I'll miss this view Now ready for the cover
Looks superb, I bet you'll be sad to see it go after all that work Adam, especially now its all cleaned up.
Hi Mel, yes I will be sad. This is an amazing car and it's been a long journey to get it to this point, I feel like it's time to move on now though. I'll probably regret it!
I already have my eye on the next project to take my mind off of it though and I still have the RA to play with!
Definitely not German.
It will be an Impreza. I'm currently looking at a spec c but it'll be a bit of a project.
I'm looking for something for track days so a Type R is a bit out of budget now. I'm sure I'll scratch that itch at some point though...
Ooooof the flake in that paint you sure its original and not an aftermarket respray lol
Looks wicked mate.
It's factory mate. It's called Mica black iirc. It has a gold/bronze type pearl effect.
Same colour as my first ever scooby, one of the best colours when waxed but it's a nightmare to keep clean!
That car is a beauty, fresh Paul finch built engine with syvecs, newish turbo etc etc...hopefully the new owner will give us his thoughts 👍
I did seriously consider breaking it when the engine was (wrongly) diagnosed as failing. I’m glad I didn’t as it keeps an amazing car on the road, we see far to many of these high spec car recycled through the breakers! Financially it hasn’t made much sense but I love this car and I certainly didn’t buy it as an investment! 😂
I know that Gaz will enjoy the car, he’s a petrol head too and he has the skills to maintain a car like this. I’m glad it’s going to someone who will enjoy it. He’s a fan of Santa Pod and I’m looking forward to seeing what it can do down the 1/4 mile. Maybe I’ll get a passenger invite...😜

I hope the new owner will continue to post updates.
I bet your glad to get some money back.
