Thanks for the input folks I’ll be keeping my eyes out for a nice widetrack.
One more thing is there much difference between a uk 05 and a jdm 05?

this looks ok, reasonable mileage too, i had a narrow track impreza some years ago and its far inferior to either widetrack or jdm. ok once modified but come resale time worth way less as its undesirable comapred to other models.

Watching both of them, think the spec c will go for too much, would be nice to have the tall spoiler on the other but one could be fitted.
Thanks

folding wing mirrors on the jdm do it for me lol!

it took subaru 1year to dilute the uk version after they produced the jdm one so there will be some differences

The only major difference is the JDM comes with a twinscroll turbo. Which is more responsive than the UK version and on remap is capable of more power/torque but does not have the distinct burble. Swings and roundabouts for your preference on these. JDM's also get a rear wiper.

I'm in the market myself. Same budget of £10k (or thereabouts). JDM Blobeye. Widetrack would be nice, but I think mostly out of a £10k budget.

I've looked at one car so far, 60k miles, DCCD. MY03, imported last year, but just wasn't quite up to scratch. Another MY03 JDM lined up to view this weekend.

I've also been in contact with Torque-GT about importing one myself, which they say can be done for £10k, but I think if I do go that route I'll up my budget a bit and go for a widetrack.

First post btw... Hi all!

There's a JDM widetrack not long up for sale near Leeds. Over your/my budget at £13k but could be worth a look: https://www.riversidecarscastleford....01812053014797

It's about a 3 hour drive for me, so would write a day off to go see it, but I may still go and have a scope if I can find the time. Not as far from Scarborough though!

3h drive writes off a day?

I once drove to Leeds from Aberdeen just to view a car. That was a day lost!

Well 3 hours there, view for 1 hour +, 3 hours back. 7 or so hours is a day in my working life lol

I've traveled further to buy a car mind!

Yeah, as have I. Always worth putting the miles in for the right car. That JDM widetrack looks alright.

Does look nice, doesn't it. Just a lot of dough!

The one I'm viewing this weekend is a non-widetrack JDM, with quite a lot more miles (99k). However, it's £9.5k, so significantly less ££££.

but still much better than narrow track UK car as it has dccd and shouldn't be rotten underneath

There’s 3 very nice cars there but £13k is just pushing the budget to far.
A friend has just told me he’s selling a my04 sti with ppp 88k for 9k, don’t know wether to hang out for a widetrack!?!

9k for a UK 04 is way too expensive by about 2k

I'm not keen on the greys either. Got to be white or blue for me.

Just dynoed my stock 05 STI PPP, result was 301 ps, the last one they measured only gave 280 ps, so I'm happy with the results. Custom mapping would give another 20/30 ps and give me better low down torque from what the guys from the shop told me.

Having bought a 2005 UK widetrack STI recently, I would say it's definitely superior to pre-2005 cars having driven them extensively before. You might struggle to find a good one for £10k though, prices for decent unmolested ones have really firmed up lately, unless you can find one privately or get lucky. Rust is the biggest issue on UK cars, although mechanically they tend to age well if looked after.

Ended up getting a 2005 55reg crystal grey sti widetrack with ppp and a remap to 340bhp with 81k on. All round very tidy car inside and out.
After driving diesels for so long forgot how flat they were until 3500rpm then things start to get exciting.

Was that one of the grey ones advertised on AutoTrader? Looked interesting, just wasn't keen on the colour.

I bought one in the end myself! A 2003 JDM - fresh import. Had it just over a week - first Scoob & first 4 wheel drive, so just getting on terms with it. A few niggles, but nothing major I think. Got a few mods planned for the future, but totally standard at the moment. Going to give it a good detail asap and post up some pics. Here's a quick snap from the weekend:
