Default 10k budget.

Hi all, I’m looking to get back into a Scooby seat after driving diesels for the past 6 years.
I used to have a ver 2 wrx then ver 2 wrx wagon and the last one being a ver 5 sti.
I’m not sure I want another classic and definitely don’t want a 2.5.
Its only going to be a weekend toy but I’d like 300+ bhp.
What do you guys recommend for a 10k budget?
Thanks.

What’s the difference with the widetrack and a standard sti? Is it worth trying to get one with ppp?

Quite a few, besides the obviously more attractive interior, the handling is much improved. My mechanic which only works in Subarus for 20+ years tells me there are big differences and that the 05 widetrack has way better handling than the ones before.

PPP depends on what you want to do, if you want to tune it for more power than the 305 PS then it is not worth getting the PPP.

The widetrack is a standard STI from MY04-MY05. There are a whole list of improvements over the previous STI's. Including wider track obviously, DCCD, much nicer interior as mentioned above and chassis improvements.

Aye, if you're planning to engine mod, there's little point in getting a PPP one.

Widetrack has dccd gearbox ,facelift interior, wider rear track much better handling car.
wouldn't bother with ppp get a custom remap and you should see 350 bhp.
beware of rust on UK cars they are getting on a bit now and rust on underside is an issue.
do a previous mot check before purchase

Widetrack is specifically MY05 STi and newer albeit you do get some early registered cars on a 54 plate

November 2009 to be precise, it happened with a lot of these cars in here, Subaru just couldn't sell them. Nowadays everybody wants them.

It has helped with mileage I guess. I.basically got a year for free. from what I've looked into an average mileage for my car is 110k going by average mileage and age. mine is just over 98k and staying that way

You not going to drive it ever again, or just planning to clock it?

Yeah but you are going to drive it in summer right?

I’ve got 2 myself that sit in the garage in the dark and damp months, but they both get driven when the weather improves.

They won't be on the next mot. Age related rust is what it says lol. that'll be sorted shortly.
