I don't know how it works but I'd guess that the laser gun emits a digital signal or pulses of light and then times the return signal to the gun. If the signal is corrupted then it would not be able to calculate the decreasing distance and therefore, speed. i.e. It sends out a '1' but receives a '2' and the processor then checks for errors.
If this is the case then adding rubbish to the return signal from the car, would disrupt the guns calculations.
Scattering the signal would be very difficult as would blinding the gun from the jammer. The jammer would need to read the incoming signal and then just transmit a false one in a forward direction, with a wide spread, to hit the gun. Afterall the normal return signal is just as wide and with low power, but is detected by the gun.
The laser gun must not be very powerful as it would damage the eyes of any drivers, even in IR! The jammer would therefore not need to be powerful either to be detected by the guns receiver.

As above - the laser jammers don't work on Gatsos (radar), just the police hand held jobbies - that's why they are a good compliment to a GPS based warning system that can hopefully warn you of everything else (Gatso, Specs etc)
You can get radar jammers but these are much more illegal, interfering with aircraft controls at distances of up to a mile away.

I had an sld920 till it malfunctioned - though I suspect that this was a bit of abuse it got when I installed the front mounted intercooler and fitted the 2 led's in the scoop - above an electrical unit and knackered it
I can confirm that this device does work! - although I added a series of red led's down the bulkhead, as with a loud stereo you cant hear the thing to turn it off when needed
Strangely enough they can go off whilst going near traffic cars - I drove behind a Police Volvo a year ago and the thing was going off constantly - had to turn off - suspect he had the Laser unit switched on in the back!
I'll certainly be getting at this price as the cheapest I saw the sld at was for £225, a while back at a 25% discount offer....
I may even put one on the rear of the car as well - but then thats a bit too obvius me thinks! - comments - £400 for total protection of soughts especially with a Morpheus for all the other types!

Hi all again,
the le850 is a different one to the blinder, i went for this after neil smalley did loads of research into them and said the general concensus was that the le850 was more resilient to water ingress. Saying that my old man has the blinder and its worked spot on since day one.
The le850 was original designed as a ir device for opening garage doors etc and an extra part can be purchased which controls this. As fas as i know its a class 3 laser which when it detects a certain frequency light emits a range of others, which coincedently confuses the laser gun device by returning more than one signal, hence confusing it. As has been mentioned on the speedtrap sites these devices have been proved to work and yes agian apparently some devices can detect they have been jammed. As i say i'll take the risk now for 300£ on the evidence i seen plus based on my experience cops are more worried about if you have nicked the car, or drugs in the glove box than id there is a jammer under your grill. If someone found it id smake something up and take the risk cos at the end of the day i think if they didnt have a reading it would be hard to prove i was speeding. If it was against stopping a copper doing his job then it would be a presidence of a case making all laser jammers friegtened. As if i am the first???? As said you take your own risks sobeit, i couldnt say u couldnt get in trouble for having it or not but i'm gonna take the risk/have done for last year! Plus i have to say looks really stealth. I reckon its more hassle than its worth for the coppers to try and do u on a "preventing a policemand doing his job" than not but who knows. I reckon its a touchy subject and with the right lawyer would be a dodgy case.

This is just what I'm looking for. I passed under a motorway bridge on the M1 north 10 days ago at 95mph with a white unmarked van on the bridge with a tripod camera positioned straight down the motorway. This appeared to be an unmanned/automated camera because a chap in a yellow flurescent jacket appeared to be leaning over having a *** at the front of the vehicle.
Daft thing was, as i approached i suspected it was a camera but didn't slow down until i could actually confirm this.
I'm ordering one of these devices because I have been waiting for a letter to drop on my mat ever since.

well,
i have been past the vans before and it didnt go off so beware. Those vans are full o **** and i suspect that the tripod stuff maybe radar. THey have everything in them.

its not full proof u need a gps camera detector, laser jammer and radar dector to cover all, but then all u here is beeps!

Firstly lazers and diodes power up in very short times. Secondly a lazer gun takes a few tenths of a second to get a reading. Lazer gun are aimed at the numberplate of the oncomming car. The beautiful thing is if the gun is looking at the jamming diodes (by the numberplate) then the jamming is quite effective by all acounts. Am very tempted....

FOR EVERYONE'S INTEREST............
A "certain" friend of mine will be assisting me and another "friend" in fully testing these units using a Pro-laser speed device, currently in use by West yorkshire police, later this week.
I'll post results of our findings as soon as I can, assuming that all goes to plan.

hmmm, i would love to test mine out once i get it fitted, just to make sure its postioned correctly.Don`t think your m8`s would be too keen on helping me set it up so it worked at its best though
The main reason for getting one, is for use in the national speed limits, i never speed in built up areas, but the trend nowa days seems to be radar is getting used more and more on open A roads.Typical example been off the A1 through the woods towards Leeds.Quite easy to do say 80mph up there, and at that speed you`d be looking at a pretty hefty fine

Interested - how easy are these to fit to a Scoob - anyone tried it yet? Does it work if lasered after passing a speed trap - at the back of the car?

The sensors are fitted to the front of the car, so I suppose unless you buy a second set, then there's no protection to the back of the car.
For those of you that don't know, the pro-laser is quite capable of detecting the speed of a vehicle driving away from the operator as it is one driving towards. There have been instances of people driving past the operator "taking the ****" as it were, thinking they couldn't get done, only to find they could. Please be careful.

Ok - tested it. Results later when I have time to write em up.
In a nutshell, they're not instant-immunity, the laser can still lock on, however put it this way - I didn't cancel my order

OK. The unit is the Pro-laser mobile unit, currently used by West yorkshire police.
We tried a few runs, mainly on a long straight road, and used a Road Angel, connected up to the laser diffuser (which was mounted in the grill under the reg plate of the Vectra we used to test it).
Basically, we attempted to lock onto the car as soon as it came into view, however found difficulty until it reached within approximately 200-300 feet, when a lock was made, despite the diffuser.
"This is bad" I hear you cry!
No its not. Other cars could be locked onto in less than a second, even at distances approaching 1000 feet.
Here's a video showing the lock on another car. The intermittent beep is the unit trying to lock on. As soon as it turns into a continuous beep, the speed has been registered. (which is very, very quick in this case.)
The Vectra had about 8 seconds before a speed could be locked. Plenty of time to adjust accordingly.
As I have said. I've not cancelled my order
One final note, it was apparent that it is crucial where these are sited on the car. We've come to the conclusion that they need to be slightly above the reg plate somehow, at a reasonable distance apart.

from my experience yesterday, the bottom corners of the grill between the headlights, as near to the reg plate as you can get
