The officiating in this game has been some of the worst i've seen in the tournament, it's been shocking. The linesman must be ******* blind with the number of times the ball has gone out and he has let play go on. The ref isn't much better either with his views on what constitutes a foul

I'm afraid they missed too many chances in the 1st half and if you don't take your chances at this level you will be made to pay for it and they have been.
Croatia has several Champions League winners in their team who have played at the highest level for years and it was going to show at some point.

Better than us losing 8 -0 to France in the final
They would have destroyed us completely

Southgate proved what a woeful manager he is tbh
long ball lump over and over and over - thats not world cup winning football
didnt make subs quick enough - keeping under performing players on the pitch?
point of taking wellbeck who if he was anygood would of played
ryan sessegnon should of been given a chance over wellbeck !!
got us all happy for 2 weeks though i guess

Dumb he got you to the World Cup semi final and If England took a few more of chances created in first half would be in the final
A fantastic achievement by South Gate and his team

They have been asking for that all 2nd half
The 1st half is the best England performance i've seen, it was superb. Then they come out for the 2nd half far too relaxed and slack.
They still haven't learnt how to keep a lead and it's pathetic after all the hard work and great 1st half performance.

Oh well, they bettered my expectations by making the Semi's, it isn't all bad, plenty of talent coming through, we've been making and winning finals at the various youth stages.
Hopefully this is the start of a new era for us now and they'll learn from their mistakes, especially those in the 2nd half where we just went long ball because we'd run out of ideas.
Got to keep the positivity going
England's most impressive player over the entire tournament has to be Trippier, 2 mis-placed passes all tourney.

Another dead match and will be worse than the group match, no team gives a **** about the 3rd place play off it's a testimonial and will be two teams full of players that never got a run out in the main games.

For me there have been many positives the best being the emergence of Trippier as Funkii says. Also the GK position is pretty much sewn up after seeing how well Pickford has played.
However I still stand by my previous posts where I think way too much was expected of this team as they simply aren't good enough to beat top teams and they only got to the semis because of the easy run we had. We only beat Tunisia (at a struggle), Panama, Columbia and Sweden. Not exactly any top opposition and when Belgium tried to lose against us to get the run we had they still won
The lack of midfield creativity is hugely worrying because we can't score goals in open play. Yesterday Kane had zero service. He has to rely on set pieces for a chance which is ridiculous. I don't think it all entirely down to lack of player skill either and equally lies with Southgate's tactics and formation. There is zero wing play where we bomb down the wings and cross the ball in. For me that is a style of play I will always want and expect to see and we have the pace to do it. Kane/Rashford/Vardy need that service to have any chance of scoring in open play. Alli/Lingard/Sterling have not been the players they are for their clubs and were pretty useless always running into trouble or losing possession.
I understand the importance of Sterlings runs which were highlighted more than ever in last night's 1st half where he ran the Croatian defence ragged but when he has the ball it's always wasted. It is so frustrating.
So whilst i've enjoyed England's run i've viewed it realistically and for what it was and who we played. I said we could and should get to the semis with who we had to play and we did but we would get knocked out by the first decent team we played and that happened and was no surprise to me. Of course I wanted to be wrong and us win but I never really believed we would win last night other than the first 20 minutes where we played the best we have ever played but then it all went back to normal and the chance was lost.
I look forward to the Euros qualifying starting and see how Southgate brings this team on but I think he needs to expand on his tactics and style of play for us to start scoring goals from open play.

I missed the intro so does anyone know who the singer girl wearing not very much at the closing ceremony is?
That black and silver getup didn't leave much to the imagination, pity she didn't have anything to put in it.

What a great game. I'd never support the French but the right team won the World Cup.
I can't believe it's over already and got to wait another 4 years. Roll on the Premiership next month and then the Euros qualifiers!
