So am I reading this right:

You launch off the line and it take 2 seconds before the temp begin to reduce?

Where was the temp sensor, and have you got some graphs of your car moving to stationary showing the temps climb?

With front mount and BMC filter my temps will rise to 55c in a very short time in standing traffic. That's on the toucan (alarm on toucan set at 55c) with syvecs and air charge temp in the throttle body. To be truthful it takes a good wee while to drop down again at normal driving if your on boost drops near instantly but there's water injection involved too.
Phenolic manifold spacers too.

without the water injection full boost could push it up initially, especially if flooring it. Is that Aquamist water/meth injecting at the T/B ?

I'm running 400ps (yes, I known that's only 396 bhp) through a Grimmspeed black TMIC and a Perrin in-wing cold air intake kit without any issues.

Having said that though, we have no traffic lights round here and rarely manage to muster a long enough queue of cars to form a traffic jam.

Fair enough but your missing the point here the thread is about what can and does happen under normal use. Were not all dodging sheep

I just bought one of those fancy Gucci TMIC from chevron £2400 it cost, but I'm thinking FMIC might be the way.

Theres a chap on instagram running 550bhp on the same Chevrom TMIC on his RB320.

Trev thanks for the advice on the cooler
indeed they are.

tidgy talking bollox again I see.

it's hilarious the wind up I played on tidgy with the leaf blower still gets brought up.

it's also still funny to read how I managed to win the very competitive sprint series with an intercooler that can't possibly work.

same old same old.

dont listen to people like tidgy chaps, he hasn't a clue.

all that matters with any cooler of any type is the efficiency of the core and the airflow through it. A TMIC gets great airflow. A FMIC airflow has to pass through the radiator and make it's way round a flat engine. Not very efficient at all.

I agree with the highlighted comment, but their is a lot more variables that come into the TMIC VS FMIC debate....When I first made the change to a fmic I regretted it as my car felt slower to me,as the intercooler that I purchased was to big for the turbo that I was using at the time 'PERRIN', and the spool up was delayed and felt laggier on the accelerator pedal, but when I upgraded to a faster spooling billeted turbo that delay that I felt on the pedal and slow spool up was a thing of the past as the car performed as it use to with the tmic.Their is a place for a fmic but it has to be upgraded in conjunction with the right supporting car modifications...putting a fmic on a car that is not needed i.e.with a standard turbo or snorkel intake is a waste of time and it will make for a slower car.SJ.

Front mount
High budget ( process west
Mid ( Perrin
Low ( Hybrid GT2

The process west also combines the radiator into 1 item & the pipe work is super short ( the finest kit out there with data to back it up

Import!,not sure their is a UK stockist for process west products in the UK,they make good stuff but they should for the price that they sell them for ££££...You can get quality intercoolers over here so not really worth the import hassle in my opinion.SJ.
