My RA and Type R
#92
Had it on the ramp and stripped down yesterday , getting the diff cradle , link arms and hubs bead blasted and powder coated , and rebuilding the hubs with new bearings , rebuild and paint the drive shafts , and paint the diff , will give the floor and inner arch's painted before re-fitting everything .
Got my new brakes just about finished , just need to decide on coilovers and get them ordered up
Cheers Ian

If it was me, I'd keep it 'Works' i.e. the std 'black stars' version.

My RA was picked up last week , new owner was over the moon with it , it's a cracking car

I missed this.
So, you've now sold the white RA...?!
I thought that was also going to be a project car... I thought the original intention was that you were going to restore her to near-'concours' OEM.

I'd of loved to have also kept the RA , even stored it away in a bubble for a while , but just bought a plot of land to build a house , so have to sell some toys , the RA being one of them .
So just keeping the type R now

HI
Went up to see the car the other day , and it's looking amazing in the flesh , much better than I was expecting , there is a mark in the paint on the quarter panel which they have to fix , so will get it back next weekend , I have my RA here I need to change the shocks as the guy who's bought it is picking it up next week , so i'll get the 2 door one back here when that's gone.
Byron who did the car owns the 6R4 , and bought a load of fifteen52 wheels for it , and put some wheels in the arch to take pics , he was telling me to get a set but they don't work for me , not that big on the design , or white wheels .
These are wheels I have bought for it , finishing off the WRC look , speedline replica's made under licence , very nice wheels , and looks perfect to me , the wheel was just put in the arch , I need to make spacers to fill the arch now , the wheels are only available in an ET48 , the wheels on my old WRC car were ET10 I think , so will make up some hubcentric spacers to fill the arch's perfectly.
Need to decide on a coilover kit as it will need dropping 50-60mm , so on the search for something that isn't too hard for road use , it won't be going on the track , so want something firm , but comfy and not rattle my teeth out !
I'm going to order new window surrounds , and the gutter trim , just so it looks perfect outside , I'm undecided what to do with the seats now , I'll fit the originals in and see what it looks like with the red on them , but I may go for later blue STi seats , we'll see .
That's about it for now
Cheers Ian

Hi Ian, can I ask where you sourced that RA from? From the pictures it looked amazing. I am looking for one at the moment but a good one is hard to find. I was under the impression it was a keeper aswell and was half tempted to pm you and see if you would sell it, dammit!
What kind of money was in it? I understand if you don't want to share that info. Also if anyone knows another RA in good condition then please pm me.
Lovely work on the Type R

I sold it for £9k , which seeing whats about it was cheap !
Very rare to find one exactly as it came out of the factory , even had the flare in place !
Did a bit of work to my car the other week , put some paint on the underneath , just need to fix a couple of captive nuts that broke off for the rear cross member then I'm just about ready to put it back together.
Just took advantage of the offer of Meister R coilovers as well

Right , got a bit more done , time is not on my side , so just need to grab time to work on it when I can .
Stripped the rear shafts down , bead blasted the shaft and CV joints , got some green paint made up close to the original CV green , sprayed the shaft black , and rebuilt them up with new gators , got a lot of the back end done , still short of a few nuts and bolts , then sort the brakes out , got the wheel spacers back from anodising , need to run spacers with the speedline copies I bought , as they don't make them in the WRC offset
That's about it for now , hopefully get the back end finished in the next week or so , can get on painting the floor and moving forwards to do the front end , which shouldn't take long at all as not going as mad on the front
Cheers Ian

Bit more done over the last couple of weeks
Managed to pick up a set of Defi's in very good condition
Gave the floor a lick of paint , and started doing under the front arch's
Adjusted the rear strut and fitted a wheel on to see where it sits in the arch with the wheel spacer fitted , needs to come down a little more , she's looking good on the floor with a wheel fitted
Finished fitting the seals and trim around the doors , fitted the rear seat in properly , it's getting closer !

Been a busy bee the last few day on it , got the front struts on , the rebuilt hubs , cleaned up the TCA's , fitted new track rods and ends , fitted the bells I'm using along with the hubcentric spacers , gave it a good wash yesterday afternoon as it's been gathering dust on the ramp for months and was looking a bit sorry for itself !
Still a way to go yet till it's finished , but it's getting there
