Increasing the ARB size will increase the spring rate. So if you do go for larger ARBs, definitely get adjustable ones so you can play about with the settings.

If you want a more precise turn in. You can't have anything sloping around the problem is you can't always achieve good turn in without some sacrifice in ride comfort road compliance.

Before increasing the Diameter of front anti roll / sway bars , the first action I would do is throw out the original rubber holding them, I would advise anyone even to change these even on road cars with Standard Suspension. after a few years the rubber softens memory deteriorates. Things get very untidy.

Same applies to the Lower control arm rear trailing arms sway bar link rubber. Also renew the Steering Track rods end joint. and Lateral Links.
Its harder to achieve a good setup in your Camber Castor angles of geometry until you have some decently stable suspension components.

Whiteline and Powerflex do kits for Subaru.
I'd recommend looking at http://scoobyworld.co.uk and FastWRX.com

As you wish to maintain a level of comfort on a road car , I'd advise to do this progressively.
Start with harder Anti-Roll rubber / or polyurethane F & R on the sway bars, starting with the rear , then look to change the lower control arms and then trailing arm bushings. But remember the more polyurethane you fit the more you will feel the surface transmitting into the body shell.

To help with ride quality and ultimate road holding get yourself some new tires Intermediate tires ADVAN/NANKANG and for road use experiment a little with the tires pressures , running perhaps higher pressure for track , lower for road to keep the bumps out.

If you still feel you cannot point the car into the curve as you wish then move to thicker roll bars again starting from rear. These will unfortunately diminish your road comfort , fairly dramatically. just 2 mm thicker roll bar makes a considerable difference to the cars handling , and beware if you take too much roll compliance out in the effort to make a go kart , then you make the car skittish on the road. High speed corners with uneven surfaces can become very unnerving. As you hop laterally over the bumps , cause a greater propensity to spin.

You have been warned.

It's much firmer than wrx suspension and a tiny bit softer than stock sti suspension.
The only downside now is how the car feels on initial turn in. On stock sti suspension turn-in felt sharper, the car was immediately stopping on the outside bump stop - and I miss this feeling Now after turning the wheel firstly I feel body move for a fraction of a second and then I feel car turning.
I am wondering If putting larger arbs (22mm front and rear) could give me this feeling again without sacrifying comfort?
What geometry are you running?

I have read previously linked iwsti thread about sti bump stops/jounce bumpers and, indeed, there is a lot of useful information there. Unfortunatelly the thread is old (2007) and is dead now.
At the moment I wonder which setup would be better for crap-quality b-roads: only aftermarket bumpstops on stock sti springs, or altogether with red prodrive (or rb320) springs? Which setup will swallow bumps and potholes better?

One of the best Subaru setups ever, considering b-roads, was in P1, which spring rates were nearly identical to the standard STI GD spring rates. I have read that it also had improved bumpstops on all 4 corners. Maybe the bumpstops were the main difference between GD STI and GC P1? The dampers on P1 came from v6 STI which were red inverted Kayabas, very similiar to the ones in the GD STI - but do you know if they differ much in terms of valving/damper characteristics? The P1 struts/springs have opinion of being nearly critically dampened. On the other hand STI GD stock setup have opinion of being quite hardly overdamped. Maybe they are also nearly critically dampened for their springs, but not including very strong and too long bump stops?
Resurrecting an old thread: has anyone actually fitted red KYB inverted GC dampers to a GD?
The GC weighs 1270kg or so and the GD 1470 kg.
Do you think the red, KYB inverted GC struts will behave well having to support a car that weighs 200kg more?
