Just over 1
2015-02-11 Received 1 BTC £152.98
I got the other small bits on Reddit when people were throwing them around, gave some away on here in the same way. Those bits are worth more than I paid for my 1btc now.

Ah! There's another split at the end of the month, like last time whatever Bitcoin you have you'll get the same of the other one. Last one is now worth ~£300.
Buying now gives a bonus later this month.

That's a tricky one. No way I'm selling before the fork that's due any time, after that Bitcoin will drop again, I'll then trade the rest of my BCH for Bitcoin, that gives me a float above my 1 which allows me to spend/sell some and keep my vanity 1:21m, if I'm really clever I'll sell whatever I get from the fork for bitcoin at a good price too, who knows, it's so volatile but looking back on this year it's been an easy ride.
Can someone explain this 'fork' thing in big letters for an absolute noob?
And is there a reason why Bitcoin is going nuts and other cryptocurrencies such as Ethereum and LTC are treading water?

Bitcoin is based on a some code developed by a group of people, some other people want to develop something very similar to Bitcoin so they take existing code and take it in another direction, a fork. Now there are two of the same thing, anything that was in the code - including my bitcoin - is now in the fork so I have 1 bitcoin and 1 something else.
Does that help at all, I could probably look up a better explanation.
Bitcoin has the jump on the others, I don't have to travel far to be able to buy and use it in person, can't say the same for the others... yet. I thought BCH - from the last spit - was dead but it went up just before I sold half so there's some life in alt coins.

You bought bitcoin? My advice, don't rush into trying to cash out, it can go very wrong. I had to wait a good while for my wallet - bread - to enable me to move the forked coins and I think this one will be even more tricky due to technical things I don't fully understand, replay protection or something like that if you want to look it up.

Thinks got interesting yesterday, the price of Bitcoin looked like it was pumped up to $7.5k due to the incoming fork, but that was cancelled and usual form would be a crash as everyone ran away, but it's hodling.
I remember a delivery driver waffling on about Bitcoin about 5 years ago, saying he’d put a fair few quid on it and how it was going to be the future. I had no idea what he was on about. I bet he’s not making deliveries any more if he kept it up!

I guess I'll find out more when this fork happens.
